Phnom Penh Nightlife: Best Bars and Nightclubs [2024]

By Tibs →
Phnom Penh nightlife is fun, diverse and laidback. The cost of partying is still low, the venues cater to a wide range of clients, and the rules are relaxed: Several clubs close late in the morning and a few bars stay open 24/7. The city attracts a mix of tourists (mostly backpackers but also many older people on group tours), low-budget expats (from guys on retirement to English teachers and NGO workers), small business owners and unfortunately, a lot of sex tourists as well. I noticed it is particularly easy to meet both locals and foreigners in Phnom Penh. I only spent a couple of weeks there so this review will only scratch the surface of the things to do at night. Still, I managed to visit all the most popular bars and nightclubs, and discover a few that aren't on everyone's map. PIK (Pantai Indah Kapuk) Nightlife: Best Bars and Clubs [2024]

By Tibs →
PIK, Pantai Indah Kapuk, is one of the favorite nightlife spots in Jakarta for wealthy, young Indonesian-Chinese. Many among them live in West and North Jakarta, especially in Pluit, Kelapa Gading and Taman Anggrek. Therefore, it can be more convenient for them to meet in PIK instead of going to South Jakarta's usual nightlife venues. As a result, the nightlife in PIK is heavily influenced by the preferences of this demographic. For instance, most of the popular restaurants in PIK serve pork, which is rare elsewhere in the city. You will also find more Korean, Japanese and Chinese restaurants as well as some trendy Asian brands (especially in the mall PIK Avenue). The bars and clubs in PIK follow the same logic. Soju is very popular here, and the clubs tend to focus on customers who buy bottles. There are also several karaoke joints. Below is a quick rundown of where to hangout and party at night in PIK: Nightlife in PIK Most of the popular restaurants are located in the streets su

11 Best Secret and Unspoiled Indonesians Islands [2024]

The next Bali or the next Lombok is listed below. If you are a tourist considering going to Bali to enjoy a quiet beach holiday, just forget it. Bali is ridiculously overcrowded and it is starting to look no different than Jakarta: Clogged with traffic, disorganized and polluted. It is far from the paradise it pretends to be. The good news is there are 17,000 more islands to explore in Indonesia, with far better beaches and scenery. Sure, they require a bit more efforts to visit and you may not find 5-star honeymoon resorts so easily there. But once tourism will develop and change the authenticity of these islands, you will probably regret not making the trip earlier.

The following is a ranking of the most happening nightclubs in Jakarta at the moment. Note: I updated this review of Jakarta's best nightclubs in January 2024. The line between a club and a bar can be thin. Some places are great for dancing and drinking but I didn't include them here because I considered them to be bars. Check my guide of the  Best Bars in Jakarta  for more party recommendations. If you think I forgot to mention a venue, please leave me a comment! Tips About Clubbing in Jakarta: Here are a few things you should know before heading for a night out: - If you are new to the city and you don't know where to start , I recommend going to the SCBD neighborhood where you can find several nightclubs and bars that are all within walking-distance from each other (H Club, Lucy in the Sky, Swillhouse, Embassy, Billions, etc). 5 minutes from there, you can also check all the venues in Senopati/Suryo street. - Clubbing in Jakarta is rather expensive.
