The Red Square opened again on May 5th, 2016. It is located in Bank Panin building on Jalan Sudirman. That's behind STC Senayan and next to Locanta restaurant. I made the mistake to go to Panin Tower first which is next to Senayan City and not the right location.

Since Red Square closed, some crucial members of the original team have left to create Revolution in Lotte Mart. The new Red Square was developed by the owners of the brand only. They changed the design significantly, removing the main podium and adding a restaurant on the side.

I visited at 2am on Friday, May 6th, just one day after opening. It is in a basement with no windows. The entrance fee was a ridiculous Rp150,000. A shame considering the place was empty. The design is OK but I don't think it will be enough to attract people.

The music was progressive/house, typical of Red Square. Good sound system. I left after a few minutes as it was not really happening. I'll try to be back in a few weeks to see how it goes.

Overall: Wait and see. The current best things about Red Square are its location and its name. If it manages to get a decent crowd, it could be a good pre-party spot just next to X2. They could use the underground vibe to play some different kind of music like Minimal or European-style electro.

    1. Are you stupid or just illiterate? The place is not even open yet! Read the article. It will open on May 5th.

    2. Are you ignorant, or just an assH#le? It's a fair question given the reputation of the old 'Red Square'.

  2. Well that was the OLD Red Square (big clue there) NOT the NEW Red Square which says "New location, new concept" so how do we know if they let in ayam, if they have ladies night, etc etc etc. It's a fair reply to a stupid question. The place is not even open, so how can anyone give an opinion based on the "Old" Red Square which was a different economic environment, different concept, space, size, etc etc. If you live in Jakarta you will notice the crowds are smaller, there are less Expats living, working and staying here, and that has a knock on effect. Even the mighty DF is not as packed as it was pre-reno. Loewy is not as busy, Basque is pretty busy, Immigrant busy, even BATS is quieter than it used to be (RIP DJ Budi btw). Let see RS#2 open for a few weeks then we can reply to the OP with some solid comments.

    1. Why keep the OLD name at all if you are not trying to keep the goodwill associated with it (big clue there). I swear, the OP posted a reasonable (however naive) questions where you guys could have simply replied politely, but choose to talk like arrogant cocky pricks instead (another big clue there). No wonder Indonesians hate Bules.

  3. Actually I am Indonesian. So to answer the OP question "As it is not even open yet, no one can fairly comment on the NEW Red Square, however like every other single club in Indonesia I would suspect that yes it will have a ladies night, and like every other single bar, club, mall, etc in Indonesia I would suspect that you will be able to meet women there"
    Does that satisfy you?

  4. I went to the VIP opening night and it was craaaaazyyyy super full packed busy. What to say? Well it is a lot bigger than the old one, has a restaurant seperate, bigger bar, seating etc, no middle dance floor table (shame) and a lot of the pillars do block the view, there is a dance floor, a lot of the old staff are there, and on the VIP night I saw a lot of the old regulars who used to go to RS all the time, bule and Indo. Anyway was a great night, good value for money for bottles (1.3++), nice food, good crowd, lots of beautiful girls, and it seems they have lots of events lined up, including ladies night like the guy before asked. They have LED ceiling, similar to DF but it doesn't move. Funny to compare RS to Revolution, now no contest really, how will that work when they market as the new RS but now the new RS has actually reopened? Bit weird. And they both have the same uniforms and logo too!!?!
