The Dragonfly night club underwent some renovations about 2 years ago. It is much bigger than the old one since the restaurant disappeared, but there is almost no dancefloor. Good music, good crowd (lots of socialites, models, actresses), but pricey. You can expect to pay 80 to 100 thousand rupiah for a drink. To enjoy the place, I think it's better to book a table in advance because there won't be much room to dance otherwise.. Dress well also, because you might not get in if you are wearing a t-shirt and used jeans. You will see Indonesian girls take the dress code very seriously, and most of them are dressed with glamour, fashion-designer clothes and plenty of make-up.It is best on wednesdays. They also have international DJs quite frequently, and not the worst: David Guetta, Dubfire, Steve Angello and Ingrosso to name a few went there. It is quite similar to Blowfish, owned by the same guy anyway, but there aren't so many Chinese people, there are more expats and executives and they play less RnB stuff. Always crowded, it is one of the most popular club in Jakarta nightlife and one you have to check while being in the capital if you like clubs with international standings. You can meet girls there also, but you will find them to be a bit cold. If you find a pretty one you fancy, your best options if you're not Brad Pitt is to try to hook up with her group of friends first (especially the gay ones) and then, once you're accepted, try to make good impression and get her phone number (don't aim to high, one step at a time). Don't forget to say you work in investment banking!
Waiters take ages to give back your change and seem to expect you to give them huge tips, as if 130,000 rp for a cocktail was not enough... be patient!

I was there last saturday. The music was good, but there was no place to dance. And the prices are very steep!
i was ther in march good looking bar/club it cost idr150 to get in per person very friendly staff good service but yes over priced we did get a cd with the entry cost more staff then customers from what i did see lol but a very impresive place the only thing id say dont let any of the staff outside get taxi for you thay will try and force you to pay them a idr50.000 tip just for geting taxi felt that was abit of a piss take (tips are to be given not demanded)by the blk agent
I went there, too, a couple of weeks ago. The prices were very high and, most of all, there's no place to dance..
But music was fine and the atmosphere was not that bad. So it'll be ok if someone goes there with his girlfriend(n If you're a rich guy).
(in my case, they didn't ask that tip for calling taxi.)
that's place is awesome..but lately the music not so good..
Music is OK, especially the special events they have almost every two weeks, but when they do host international DJs, the place is so packed you cannot enjoy yourself unless you've booked a table.. Also, be careful with the clothes you wear: No flip flops, no torn jeans, etc.. The security is very strict and stubborn about these rules and they won"t let you enter Dragonfly if you're wearing one of these
Scoring chicks in Dragonfly is easy as pie. Is it normal that there is no entrance fee on friday nights?
There isn't always an entrance fee, even on weekends.. it depends on who's DJing.. when no special events, Dragonfly is free..
Awesome, I'll be rocking that joint EVERY friday the coming months, yezzur
what sort of club with international standing lets their dj play a vomit inducing dance remix of the dirty dancing theme tune??!
Just shows how poorly educated / uninterested jakarta crowds are; this place truly is a clubbing / musical desert.
International standards does not mean a copy from any western clubs. Dragonfly has its own DJs playing whatever music is popular in Indonesia, and not necessarily what is hype in other parts of the world.
Even though I'm not a fan of Dragonfly, I find your comment very condescending.
I'm from Europe and I've also heard over and over that Dirty Dancing remix there... How stupid you must be to judge the "Jakarta crowd" only from one club/one song perspective!
i was there yesterday..
and u know what ?, i got $$$ JACKPOT
lol
i want it....
Can anyone tell me what time Dragonfly gets busy on a friday and saturday night?
And how far in a taxi with no traffic from there to BATS and Redsquare?
thanks
Try around 1am I think... depends on the night though..
From DF to BATS is 15 minutes, 10 minutes to Red Square, if no traffic at all...
it was such a shame that DragonFly's image as one of Jakarta's It Club has been ruined by a very unconvenience incident caused by their PR staffs last night. all this time I had certain pleasure to hanging out there with the top notch socialistas and made a good recommendation to some foreign friends. But the way DF faking their rule by personal sentiment, prejudicing and accusing their guests, is very unproper & unacceptable. With the fact, DF often makes an intentional mistakes on putting bill and taking advantages of drunk guests. I will not hesitate to forward this message to every media possible since I wasn't the only one has ever had this kind of unconvenience before. You should've take good care of the good image which are actually been built by your loyal customers & clients. your life and continuity in the business depends on them!!! Hey people, SAY NO TO DRAGONFLY since now!!
I was there last monday and it was closed. The doorman told me it closes on monday, tuesday and wednesday.
I went there last saturday night. We were like 10 people and only one of our friends was wearing tshirt but and they made problem about it. After a small conversation with the lady at the entrance she let us in with a warning "next time be more careful" (WTF :S)
It was 1am when we enter the club and I regret I asked for a favor to enter the club. More than half of the club was still empty and until 4am it didn't got better...
I mean okay you trying to be a trendy place, I totally understand but why you making problem at the entrance for a big group of people where your club is already empty.
With a price of 36rb/ bottle of an aqua and such a rude welcome from entrance, so far I have seen that Dragonfly is on it's way to bankrupt...
Last time I was there was like 3 months ago, it was same, never seen dragonfly full since last year.
Dragon is good and bad at the same time. The venue is pretty crap by international standards. However the girls that go there are often very good looking and not the sort that are chasing money. In my experience anyway. And yes as everyone states, very high prices.
Hi I am coming to Jakarta on 25th July and after reading this blog was looking forward to checking out some of the bars and clubs. However I have read a few comments that as this will be during Ramadan then most of the bars will be closed. Can anyone confirm if this is true and if so where will be open and still be good to party and pick up girls (not prostitutes though). Also will the bars that are open be quieter than usual because of Ramadan?
Thanks in advance.
Tried to go last thursday and saturday and it appears to be closed? Anyone have any news?
we go to dragonfly regularly. Last night we went with the team from work, the ladies on the door said one of the girls we were with was not pretty enough to get in...this surprised us, as there are a lot of ugly girls (and lots of ugly men) in Dragonfly. Anyway, I dont recommend going to a club that treats people like that.
Did she really say it like that? That's just rude!!

Im not Indonesian, but your statement is very absurd. Ive never been to DF before but having the impression that probably that was one of d night DJ was spinning 'not-so-great' set, despite if he's playing in Indo or else where around d world. Besides it was not any of d Indo crowd that was behind d console.
Seriously u got a damn serious attitude, I hope u OD one day and end up wit a bad-S trip! That if u made it through.
Thinking of visiting soon looking to spend most of my time drinking parting and shagging which is the best location to stay, im Arab male in my early 40's
Hi all!
I'm an Indonesian girl, my name is Anggi and I'm 19 years old. Tomorrow night, 8 pm at DragonFly Jakarta, there's a NYE Celebration with a BANG! EDM's rising star Gregori Klosman. I have 2 free entries, too bad I haven't found any companion, yet. Is there anyone out here interested with this and planning to go with me? if there is, just let me know by invite my pin BB: 20f3427d or my phone number: 083873147080. I'm really looking forward a companion. Uhm actually, I'm looking for a bule one, a good one and a nice one guy to go with me.
Thankyou, cheers! xx
Is there any entrance fee on friday night for ladies? Lo
L
Can anybody list or predict how much will it cost for the whiskey bottles??
How much is it to get a sofa there?
The crowd has gone with the wind?
