Warung Ocha - Cheap Eat (Bali)

Warung Ocha is an "upgraded" warung at the intersection of Jalan Dyana Pura (where all the gay nightlife in Bali is located) and Jalan Raya Seminyak. It is clean, cute and offers good value-for-money. They used to be famous for their cheap Indonesian food buffet, but its quality has decreased (and its price increased) compared to other "real" warungs nearby. Now it is mostly tourists or local expats going there. They have a strategic location, great to watch people pass by if you sit on the street side. If you need more calm, they also have a courtyard area. Baguette Sandwich (Rp43,000++)

Bebek Tepi Sawah Restaurants

I visited the original branch of Bebek Tepi Sawah in Ubud a few years ago. I was disappointed at that time as it was expensive, overcrowded with groups of tourists, and the taste was really unexceptional. I blacklisted it in my mind and considered it a tourist trap. In the past few years, the brand has opened outlets everywhere in malls in Jakarta, Yogyakarta and Bali. I thought that the management may have changed and that it would be worth having another try. I did so in Beachwalk in Kuta. My first impression was not too good. I was greeted by an apathetic waitress that I felt I was bothering. She gave me the menu and left. It took me 10 minutes to get another waiter, more friendly, to come to me and take my order. The menu features all kinds of Indonesian and International dishes with a large choice of drinks. Yut'z Place is a good value restaurant located between Legian and Seminyak in Bali. It was opened in 2001 by Mimo Habibii who I believe is a Swiss German with Egyptian origins (please correct me if I'm wrong). I found the place by accident and I am glad I did! It looks like any other restaurants from the outside. It is simple, in the open-air, and clean. The great thing about it is the complete, affordable menu. They are particularly famous for their steaks but you can have pretty much anything you could think (Continental and Indonesian food). I had the Giant Healthy Salad (i forgot the price, I think around Rp70,000 Net). It was truly huge and healthy, the best I've had in Bali. The Giant Healthy Salad! The service was really friendly and the waiters will bring you a cold towel and a frozen margarita as a welcome drink. Overall: I will definitely come back to try more items on the menu! Bebek Bengil (Jakarta Branch)

Bebek Bengil is a Balinese restaurant, originally from Ubud, Bali, which opened a branch in Jakarta in 2009. It was quite a challenge to re-create a Balinese atmosphere in Central Jakarta with the pollution and the traffic, but the final result is not bad. It would have been better to make it in a house in Menteng though because in its current location, you cannot help but see the towers all around the garden. There is another Balinese restaurant nearby which is more peaceful in my opinion, Baruna ( see review ). The specialty of Bebek Bengil (which means "dirty duck") is the Crispy Duck. They also have some popular Balinese, Indonesian and Western dishes, but I didn't try them. Here are a few pictures of the food we ordered:
