Cape Town Nightlife: Best Nightclubs and Bars (2019)

By Jakarta100bars →
Note: This Cape Town nightlife review was written by a South African reader who lives in the city. With breathtaking scenery and a great diversity of cultures, Cape Town is one of the most unique metropolises in Africa. Among the many reasons tourists flock to the city is to enjoy its nightlife, which is probably one of the best on the continent. It is especially popular among backpackers, at least for the bars that are located in the city center. Cape Town’s nightlife is a large melting pot of different venues, from African dancehalls to Western-style nightclubs, each with their distinct vibe and crowd. In a city so large and renowned for its crime rate, you are certainly wondering where you should go for fun, and whether it is safe to do so. Here, I will give you recommendations for 10 must-try bars and nightclubs, as well as some tips about what to expect when going out at night in Cape Town.

Dubai Nightlife: Best Bars and Nightclubs (2019)

By Jakarta100bars →
Dubai nightlife is the best I've tried so far in the Persian/Arab Gulf region. Compared to that of Doha , Abu Dhabi , or Muscat , it is less conservative and far more foreigner-friendly. Even though drinking alcohol is restricted, you can find nearly a hundred bars and nightclubs, some of which are busy even on weekdays. There is a huge diversity of venues: Jazz lounges, rooftop bars, expat pubs, open-air nightclubs, beach cafés, speakeasies, etc. There is even a brand-new warehouse with Berlin-style techno parties once a month. However, not everything is perfect. The major problem with Dubai nightlife is that to enter most nightclubs, single men are required to book a table. Often, this means you will need to spend over US$500 just for one place. I will talk more about this in the following nightlife review. If you still have questions after reading it, please leave me a comment at the end of the article!

Hooters (Jakarta) - CLOSED (But It Will Reopen Soon)

By Jakarta100bars →
Update October 2019: Hooters Kemang has closed down. According to the Hooters girls I know, they are currently preparing to open again in Bali and in Pantai Indah Kapuk in 2020. When I first heard that Hooters was coming to Jakarta, my first thought was that it would make a perfect target for the FPI or any other religious groups. I was skeptical that it would actually open, and if it did, I remember saying to friends that I would not feel safe visiting it. It turns out I was wrong. The first Hooters in Indonesia official opened in Jakarta last Friday (March 24th), and I went there yesterday (March 28th). For those who don't know, Hooters is a cultural icon in America. It is a chain of sports' bars/restaurants where all the waitresses are pretty girls in sexy outfits. They tend to flirt a bit with customers as a way to encourage repeat visits. The exact location is in Kemang, just in front of Eastern Promise. The entrance is rather discreet, especiall

Manila Nightlife: Best Clubs and Bars in 2019

By Jakarta100bars →
Note: This Manila nightlife review was updated on September 23rd, 2019. Manilla has one of the best nightlife in Asia for several reasons: -  Party atmosphere : Filipinos are famous for their fun and outgoing personalities. They love to drink, to dance, to sing, and to play music. Clubs in Manila are rarely uptight or boring, and dress codes are almost never implemented. The ambiance can get really wild, especially in the more local venues with fewer expats (in Quezon City for instance). -  Cheap prices for alcohol, entrance fees, and taxis : Even high-end nightclubs will only charge a 10$ entrance with 2 strong drinks included. You can easily get yourself drunk for 30 dollars in Manila, which is the price for one cocktail in some  bars in Singapore . -  Foreigner-friendly : English is spoken everywhere in Manila, even by security guards or taxis.  - Rather  easy to meet pretty girls  that are not prostitutes While prostitution is big in Manila with several red-l

Boca Rica Tapas Bar & Lounge (Jakarta)

By Jakarta100bars →
Boca Rica is an upper-class restaurant/bar/club located on the ground floor of the  Crowne Plaza Hotel , which is inside Mangkuluhur City. The latter is a high-end mixed-use complex belonging to Tommy Soeharto and named after his son, Darma Mangkuluhur Hutomo (who happens to be the owner of Boca Rica). Since its opening at the end of 2018, it has become one of the hotspots of Jakarta nightlife. Its crowd is a mix between that of Léon (high-class, socialites, celebrities) and that of Basque (expats, travelers, businessmen). Because the entrance is free on most nights, it has also attracted a younger crowd who can't afford more established clubs like Dragonfly or Blowfish. I haven't tried the restaurant, so I won't comment on that. I just know that it serves a Spanish-inspired menu with around 20 types of Tapas (costing between IDR 75,000 and IDR 250,000 each). They also have the usual burgers, grilled chicken, steaks and fish. Drinks are pricey, like everyw
