JackRabbit Bar and Restaurant CLOSED

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
CLOSED AND REPLACED BY ALIBI CLUB JAKARTA. Owned by Andrew Santoso and Dany Setiawan (behind Cork & Screw , Loewy and X2 ), JackRabbit is a bar and restaurant opened in December 2010 in the Cyber 2 Building. It is targeting rich Indonesians and expatriates with a different atmosphere for lunch and for dinner. During lunch, they serve some fast food dishes (or at least easy to prepare) in a bistro-type atmosphere. At night, JackRabbit is more like a lounge, with louder music and many customers coming only for cocktails. It reminds me of a few existing places in Jakarta, in particular Bibliotheque . I have tried this place only for lunch and I was very disappointed. I was with three friends, so we had three dishes, and here are our griefs: - The "steak-frites" (Rp265,000 with tax): The french fries were not well-cooked and the beef not very tender.

Liquid Exchange Bar and Restaurant Jakarta

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Liquid Exchange is a long, elegant bar and restaurant located in the new Jakarta mall Epicentrum Walk. Owned by the group behind Aphrodite , it is in my opinion more upscale, and targets primarily expatriates and executives living in Taman Rasuna. It is not packed, but never empty, and I think it will get even more popular over time. The main originality of Liquid Exchange is that the prices of cocktails may change, just like stocks do on a regular stock exchange. It is amusing, even though you never get incredible discounts. Practical Information: Open from 10am to midnight everyday.

La Forca Pool Bar and Live Music (Jakarta's Setiabudi Food Court, Jl Rasuna Said)

By The Jakarta Team →
La Forca is a popular pool bar with very loud music that can be quite disturbing. Live band sometimes, and cute waitresses. It's a good place to go out during the week, when other places are empty, from Sunday to Tuesday. It's not for a wild night out partying, but it's ok before moving to other places.

Martha Tilaar Spa (Many locations in Jakarta)

By The Jakarta Team →
Martha Tilaar spa is a popular place to get traditional massages in Jakarta. Excellent service, welcoming staff, nice balinese/javanese setting and not so expensive (though more than average), I recommend it. It is a huge chain so you can probably find one near where you live. There is an upmarket version called Dewi Sri Spa too. The pictures above were taken from Dewi Sri Spa facebook fan page here . You can find the location of Martha Tilaar spa and the contact number on their website here: Jakarta Martha Tilaar spa location .

Marco's Bofet Padang Cuisine

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Marco's Bofet is a restaurant serving authentic Padang-Peranakan food (Peranakan = Indo-Chinese already established for centuries in Indonesia). It is located in a mall so compared to the Padang food you can get in the street, it is: More hygienic, more modern but it tastes milder and it's more expensive. For my stomach, it's a good option because it allows me to eat Padang without sweating and feeling unwell. For lovers of really authentic Padang food, you may want to go to any food stall in Jalan Sabang instead.. Opening Hours: Everyday from 10am to 10pm

MoodZ Bar and Restaurant (Jakarta)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
New bar/restaurant in Epicentrum Walk (near Taman Rasuna), opened by Andreas Stokowy, a German expatriate. Not visited yet but I took a look at their menu on facebook and it seems quite expensive. The chef is German so hopefully it is worth it. I'll try to visit soon and post a complete review. Namaste Hindustan (Indian Restaurant)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Namaste Hindustan is an upscale Indian restaurant in Setiabudi. The setting is not  as spectacular as other venues in Jakarta such as Hazara, but the food probably just as good. We visited on a Sunday night and there was only another client that evening, an Indian. The manager is Indian also, and he greeted us when we entered. The waiters were very warm and knew about the food they were serving. This proved very useful since I'm still new to Indian food and I asked many questions. We ordered the Paneer Makhani (also known as Paneer Butter Masala) and the Dum Biryani Hydrabadi Mutton. I didn't keep the bill unfortunately, but from what I remember, both dishes cost around Rp80,000. It is rather expensive for Jakarta, but affordable compared to Europe. Some pictures here:

Ne Mare Restaurant & Bar

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Ne Mare is a restaurant serving fusion Asian Cuisine that has DJ and live band on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Not a dancing spot but a good warm up before heading somewhere else. Not too expensive, especially with discounts on Wednesdays (free flow for 3 hours at 150,000rp) and Thursdays (buy 1 get 1 draught beer). Food is below average (snacks). Happy hours: Every day from 5PM to 9PM (only 20% off on all drinks). Ladies' Nite on Wednesday. Pizza e Birra Restaurant

By The Jakarta Team →
Pizza e Birra, owned by the Ismaya group , is re-inventing the wheel and proposes you an alcoholic version of Pizza Hut. The name is self-explanatory: Pizza e Birra has mostly pizzas (+ appetizers & soups) and beers (all kind, among which some fruit-flavoured) in its menu. The quality of the food is better than in any fast food but it’s far from being great cuisine. The beers, except for a few names are those that can be found in any other restaurant or bar. A good reason to go there is for the live music band on Friday and Saturday, and for the Beer Pong tournament that takes places once in a while. The big drawback is that of course, it is very expensive. I’m always amazed to see with how much confidence the Ismaya Group manages to transform everything it touches into something funky & modern. I would never have bet that eating junk food with Bintang, in a Muslim country, could ever be seen a hot thing to do. My opinion is that Pizza e Birra is a marketing concept that targe

Q Spa (Tea Massage)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Q Spa is a very small massage parlour, with only a few rooms. The masseuses are excellent and already experienced (mine was at least 40 years old). It is very simple and rather cheap compared to other spots in the same area (Less than Rp. 200k for a 60min massage). A good address (not erotic services provided).

Seasons' Café - Jakarta's Sunday Morning Brunch (Four Seasons Hotel on Rasuna Said)

By The Jakarta Team →
For those who just finished an all-night party in Jakarta, I recommend you to go to the best brunch in Jakarta... Coming from Kota, it's just great to sit there in this cozy and welcoming atmosphere, just after experiencing Jakarta's wildest clubs... It's a bit pricey, Rp 300,000++, but it's only the price of 2 long island iced tea in the night club X2 or in Blowfish. Opening Hours: Everyday from 6am to 11pm Sunday Brunch from 11.30am to 3pm

SushiGroove

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
SushiGroove restaurants are usually located in malls and target young executives and students. They do not serve excellent food and it's expensive, but the place is usually busy and fun for hanging out. Their menu is creative, the setting is funky and the service friendly: Is it worth paying the premium? I think that SushiGroove is fine for a short meal on the way to the movie, but for anything more serious (especially a date), it is too similar to an expensive fast-food and should be avoided. Oh and by the way, in case you didn't guess, the food is Japanese, mostly sushis. Opening hours: Every day from 11am to 10pm.

The Bar in Four Seasons Hotel

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Little know and quiet, "The Bar" is the lounge of the Four Seasons Hotel. It isn't very crowded, except with a few regulars who come to enjoy the live jazz music . Usually it happens 4 times a week but you may call them first to ask for more details.

The Apartment Jakarta (Rasuna Said)

By The Jakarta Team →
The Apartment is an innovative restaurant/bar re-creating the atmosphere of a real home. You can choose to eat in the bathroom, the living room, the kitchen, etc... The design is well-done, and they played the concept in each single detail (from the menu to the bill). If you are into themed restaurants, you should enjoy your visit.

Imperium Club Karaoke (Ex-Kampus) CLOSED

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Imperium Club is the new name of Kampus club. The management and the name changed, but so far inside it is the same. For now, the place doesn't need a new review so you can read the old here: Review Kampus Club Jakarta . If I feel there are some important changes in the club, I will write about it.
