Mamma Rosy (Kemang)

By Anonymous →
The Italian Restaurant Mamma Rosy is quite unique in Jakarta. To my knowledge, it is the only one which is entirely managed by an Italian expat family. At the top, you have Daniel Vigone, the main owner and manager, his mom (Mamma Rosy) who is behind the kitchen, and several other family members which I could not identify but seemed like their children/wife/sister. To see the whole family in the restaurant and in the kitchen gives you quite a good first impression and makes you feel instantly at home. If you have a bit of imagination, you could even feel as if you went to Italy...

Huize van Wely (The Papilion building, Kemang)

By Anonymous →
Huize van Wely is a Dutch Restaurant, Patissier and Chocolatier located in Kemang. This upscale restaurant is located in the Papilion building, the famous glass building on Kemang Raya. This type of architecture is quite uncommon in Jakarta, that is why I wanted to try this restaurant. On the top floor of this building you will find Shy Rooftop & restaurant ( you can check my review here ). Outstanding glass building, fancy Dutch restaurant, European-style cuisine...this place is very fancy ! This is not a regular place to hang out with your buddies...It would more suitable to make a proposal or to have a serious conversation. In this very chic decor, I tried to order some food and I was not disappointed. First they give you a small piece of French bread along with salted butter, which is a very sweet attention. Then I did not wait too long to taste my spicy quesadillas and that was very good. But the best part in my opinion in the dessert and chocolate area.

Caliente Mexican Restaurant Jakarta

By Unknown →
Caliente is an affordable Mexican restaurant located in Kemang Village (Lippo Mall). It serves all Mexican favourites for a very reasonable price and the taste is good. The design of the place could be improved in my opinion as it resembles a fast food more than a restaurant. Caliente Mexican Restaurant Jakarta Lippo Mall Kemang, 3rd Floor #03, Jl. Pangeran Antasari Kav. 36, Kemang, Jakarta Opening Hours:  Caliente is opened every day from 10am to 10pm.

Yamas Greek Restaurant Jakarta

By Unknown →
Yamas is one of the few Greek Restaurant in Jakarta to my knowledge. It is located Jalan Prapanca. I haven't been there yet but a reliable friend told me he was disappointed with the food. Other options for Greek cuisine in Jakarta include: El Greco, Hola Niko and Cuadrillo. Yamas Greek Restaurant Jakarta Jl. Prapanca Raya No. 37 C Kemang, Jakarta

Amigos Restaurant (Tex-Mex)

By The Jakarta Team →
Established in Indonesia since 1979, Amigos is a popular family restaurant , the first with Mexican food in Jakarta (now there is also Hacienda ). It has two main targets, American expats who miss their tacos, and Indonesian middle class families eager to discover another continent's cuisine. Actually, we are seeing a lot more of these lately as expats are being spoiled with much better places to eat... The food is junk food, but the atmosphere is friendly. If you want to eat quietly, don't go in the evening because they have live music which can be quite loud. Happy hour from 4pm to 7pm (50% off soft drinks, juices and beer).  There are two branches: Amigos Kemang (It is the one with the best reputation) Jl. Kemang Selatan I

Beer Garden (Kemang)

By Tibs →
Beer Garden is currently one of the busiest bars in Kemang. Even on a Sunday night you should find it full. Nothing too fancy inside but it looks clean and cozy. Recommended for the easy-going atmosphere though it can get hot sometimes. If you go clubbing right after spending an evening in Beer Garden, chances are you will be all sweaty. It is not the cheapest place in Kemang, but the prices are very affordable. You can also try the nearby  Bremer bar if you are into beer gardens.

Die Stube (Kemang)

By Tibs →
One of the favorite expat restaurants in Jakarta, Die Stube manages to serve excellent German food at a reasonable fare (less than Rp100,000 for a meal with drinks). The design is very simple, nothing too fancy. Highly recommended . It is also a popular drinking joint as it offers a wide selection of beers. The crowd is a mix of locals and long-term expatriates (all age groups, but mostly above 35). They organize a special event for Oktoberfest every year and put a wide screen when the German team is playing. Live music occasionally. You can check their latest news on its facebook page: Die Stube . The owner of Die Stube, Patrick Widjaja, opened a similar restaurant in Cilandak called Imbiss Stube (Citos). Other German restaurants in Jakarta are Paulaner Brauhaus (more upmarket) and Ya Udah Bistro. Opening hours: Every day from 11.30am to midnight (1am on weekends).

Eastern Promise Pub and Live Music (Kemang)

By The Jakarta Team →
Eastern Promise is a friendly, laid-back expat pub with several rooms, each with a particular atmosphere. You have a quiet bar in the entrance, then a dining room for eating British and Indian food , and in the back a beer garden with live music for partying. Also on the side, a billiard/darts room, and a sports-watching room. Eastern Promise is usually very crowded, especially on weekends, with a lot of expatriates mostly above 35.
