Star Deli (Kemang)

By Tibs →
Star Deli is a popular venue for snacks and beer in Kemang, with a Hollywood theme. American owned and American food (burgers, sandwiches, etc.).  You'll notice that they usually hire friendly and sexy waitresses... Recommended for an easy-going early night out. It is also a good place to meet other expats. They have a pool table as well and live music on weekend nights (Top 40). Prices are more expensive than the average for Kemang, but still reasonable: Around Rp30,000 for beer and Rp50,000 for hard drink. Happy hours from 5pm to 7pm. Open every day.

Super Steak (Kebayoran Baru)

By Tibs →
If you are looking for the best value-for-money steaks in Jakarta (much better than Abuba ), your quest should end in Super Steak. I was introduced to this place by a friend who knew the owner, and I wasn't disappointed. It is friendly and laid-back, just like having a small BBQ in your backyard, and as promised, the steaks are top-quality.

Tony Roma's (Jakarta & Bandung)

By Tibs →
Tony Roma's is the equivalent in taste and quality of most of the thousands of family restaurants you can find anywhere in the US. It serves basic American dishes, mostly steaks, ribs and burgers, in a very casual atmosphere. It is very pricey compared to buying Nasi Goreng: If you take the ribs, you will have to pay close from Rp 300,000 for one person. That's the price for tasting meat imported from the US. I went for the cheeseburger, which is good value for Rp85k++. A coke costs Rp15k++. It isn't the best food ever, but the quality standards are constant: When you eat in Tony Roma's, you get good meat, professional service and no surprises. It is a favourite among expatriates, especially Australian and American, but most clients are Indonesian.
