Bluegrass Bar & Grill is located next to Epicentrum Mall, off Rasuna Said street. A good place to meet other expats, it became popular quite rapidly after opening and it still is. The food is American: Steaks, ribs, burgers, wings, nachos, etc... Hip atmosphere, on the expensive side (similar with other venues like Union, Loewy, etc..). Surprisingly, I realized that there wasn't such a big offer in Jakarta for this type of food for those who expect a stylish design and decent quality. Along with the 24-meter bar, I think this is what explains part of the success of Bluegrass.
On the minus side, the service could be greatly improved, and in particular the friendliness of staff.
Overall: I recommend a visit once in a while for a casual, after-work eat. It is a good place to bring a date.
Update 2014: The new Bluegrass has opened, with a slightly different address inside the Bakrie Tower. It looks nicer than before I think and the service has improved! I'm changing the rating from 7 to 8.

I personally think that the ribs was delicious!! It's usually pretty hard to make a reservation on weekend nights, have to call at least a week before (because it happened to me so many times...).
ReplyDeletefood is just ok priced for the low quality, the parking is great and you can go to otel lobby if you are bored.indonesian guest next to me complained about the food to a lame supervisor just replying thank you sir.
ReplyDeleteI had local food and it was not nice. Barstaff was friendly and funny. Not cheap but for such a place you have to pay.
ReplyDeleteAmazing that the waiters seem to think a birthday of a colleague is more important than offering service to their customers. Suddenly everyone is gone for almost 10 minutes to sing and offer a cake to a co-worker at the busiest time of the evening and a full house.
ReplyDeleteAlso, we had to explain to the waiter how to cut the beef and to serve the wine.
Quite amateuristic, all in all.
On Wednesday, March 6th,2013 I went to Blue Grass but it was closed. Has it moved to another location?
ReplyDeleteyes it is moving across the street at the bakrie tower. it'll be open again starting may 2013
ReplyDeleteafter reopening, the place look great. But, seem there is no separate room for smoking area. Need more exhaust. And the most important thing is the staff need extra training for make excellent service and more polite to response customer's question.
ReplyDeletethe service are very poor. # sorry, but its true.
