Karma Beach Club - Bali

Karma Beach Club (previously called Nammos Beach Club) is the bar/restaurant of the Karma Kandara resort. Located on one of Bali's most beautiful beaches, it is unfortunately very expensive, snob and pretentious. It is also a pain in the ass to get there, especially if you don't have your own car.

In spite of all that, it is worth it for those who want to spend an afternoon on a world-class beach, with golden sand and pristine waters (which, surprisingly, is rather hard to find in Bali). You have to pay Rp250,000 to access the club, and it will give you access to a mattress (if available) and Rp150,000 to spend on the restaurant.

The food (Mediterranean) is decent, but the portions are very small. If you are on a tight budget, I would advise you to bring some snacks and water in your bag to avoid spending a fortune. Compared to other private beaches nearby, another big advantage of Karma Kandara is that they have a funicular which takes you down from the cliffs to the beach. On the way up, there may be some queuing to go back to the resorts, and you will notice that many guests have no shame cutting the line. Seems like the good manners where left back home.

Overall: I like the beach but I always feel very uncomfortable in Karma Beach Club because if you are not staying in one of the villas, you will be treated as a second class guest.

They have trendy parties once in a while: You may want to check their Instagram for more information.

  1. Had the same feeling about the different treatment between VIP guests (residents of the resorts) and the others. I forgot the name but just next to Karma Kandara, you have another beach club, with a beach that's not as beautiful, but people there are much more friendly and laidback...
