Koi Kafe Gallery restaurant is a long-time favourite among Jakarta expatriates. It serves both Asian (Chinese) and European (mainly French) food. Koi is usually considered as serving one of the best brunches in Jakarta. You can try it from 10am to 2pm on Saturday and Sunday, but make a reservation before because it is always full.
Owned by a Belgian expat, the food is mostly great (among the recommended dishes, try the Grilled Camembert) and the service friendly. When busy, you may have to wait for a while to get your food though. Koi also hosts a gallery with some beautiful pieces of antique furniture and also some paintings.
A meal will cost you around 150,000rp (appetizer, main course and dessert), which I believe is decent for the overall experience you get.
Koi is in two different locations: You have the old version, the "restaurant" in Blok M (Mahakam) and a "bistro" in Kemang. Both are similar in terms of food, quality and pricing, but for a dining experience you should prefer the first one.

Beware of a FOREIGNER SCAM being run at this Restaurant, Koi Kemang. I visited this restaurant with a girl that I met on social media. She is the one who suggested this place and said it was very nice. Only later would I realize why she wanted to come here. I met her at the restaurant and we sat down and I bought her a couple drinks. I drank a couple of beers. She wanted to order food and I told her that since it was the first time we were meeting I offered to buy her a drinks and nothing more. I made it clear that I was only buying her a drink or 2. To make a long story short when we got ready to leave the padded bill arrived which showed extra drinks and food that I hadn't ordered and never saw delivered to the table. When I complained that there were extra items on the bill that I had not ordered I was told that the girl had ordered the items and I must pay. A bill that should have been $20/$30 dollars ended up being over $80. I had no choice but to pay or not be able to leave the restaurant. I'm sure now looking back that the restaurant was involved in this scam. That's obviously the reason why she wanted to come here in the first place. FOREIGNERS BEWARE
