Red Square - Jakarta - CLOSED

By The Jakarta Team

Update: Red Square in Senayan Arcadia is currently CLOSED.

Red Square is one of the most popular bars in Jakarta for foreigners, and for many, it is the only place they go to in the city. Extremely busy on Friday and Saturday, it is so crowded that it is best to book a private table if you want to avoid suffocation. On other nights, it varies a lot: Thursday can be quite good, but from Sunday to Wednesday, it is empty the more often.

The bar has a nice selection of cocktails, especially those with Vodka. The entrance fee is now around rp100,000 on weekends and the drinks are pretty expensive.

  4. first of all: thank you for this page! It's was my first weekend in Jakarta and it helped alot...

Red Square is a great place. Not big but full and many sexy girls that I thought were "normal". It has a sexy, crazy atmosphere. on halloween they had a costume contest on the bar/walkway in the middle - one girl didn't wear panties... how is that for a normally muslim country? paid 100,000 for the entry including one corona.

I will not share details on the night which would either set too high expectations or be considered bragging but it was GREAT GREAT TIMES ;-)

  6. When Red Square was still on the ground floor it was nicer and much better. I considered it as the best alternative to Dragonfly because it is more intimate and the music is better. But all that seems to be fading. Things changed when they moved it upstairs. And over the past year people start showing up in casual wear that is far too casual and more and more sneakers slip through. The girls used to be mainly party-girls and the few ayam going there made an effort to be classy and stylish. Now it's attracting people who think it's a step up from Blok M, being rude and obnoxious and the ayam are getting older, uglier and fatter by the week. A vicious circle that keeps attracting the wrong kind of people. I used to smoke Cohibas there while enjoying the view of classy women dancing on the table. But the last time I was there I left without finishing my drink after a bunch of drunk shitheads had kicked nearly every single drink and some bottles of the table.

  7. I went there last Saturday and I was disappointed with the atmosphere. The place is smaller than I thought and not many people in there even though it was Saturday. I was there around 11:00pm. Maybe it was too early for the real party? I was alone and it was not easy to chat with other girls. Overall, I am not sure if I’ll go there again.

  8. The Red Square empty on a Saturday? This would be the first time ever.. Try it again a little later than 11PM.. At 1AM it is usually almost impossible to find 1m2 available..

  9. Definitely the Hottest girls of any club in Java!
    Awesome times.

  10. Been there about 4 times over the last few weeks and every time was disappointed. It's very empty until late and yes, even on a Saturday I have been there with only about 10-20 fellow guests by 12.30h midnight. I do not know if it gets busy thereafter and honestly time is too precious to waste it in trying that out. As for the girls - it's all over guys.
In my opinion that place is free falling.
Need to find some other good alternatives of what could be something like the old (2005 or so) red Square.

  11. Agree with the previous comment, most days, Red Square is empty... I now prefer Immigrant or Kampus club or sometimes CJs... But it is not as fun as Red Square used to be...

    ReplyDelete
  12. Yes, agree that Red Square is much slower now during the week but check for events like fashion shows, sexy dancers and guest DJ's on Wednesday and Thursdays. Sometimes they still rock and it's nice place when not so packed. Reds is still Jakarta's best party on Fridays and Saturdays. This place is for serious drinkers and party people! Big fun can be had and so many nice babes!

  13. I agree with many comments. I was so-regular when Red was on Ground Floor. They used to have proper blacklist which did not allow Ayam girls or any girls-looking-like-ayam to enter. Now on second floor, Red is full of non-classy ayam looking for guys.
It used to be so much fun place, just to have fun for weekend, nothing else. But now it is just a mixing of sex and money going around.
The staff are less smiling now, too.

I used to be proud Red-regular, now I don't even wanna get near Red at all!!!

  17. too many ayams. too many sleazy asses
    long time ago friendly staff
now they only smile to big money spenders.

  18. I agree on many of the comments. Places here do change - usually getting poor - and Red is among those you can better get off your list. I find myself once in a while tempted going back there but it's sort of stupid nostalgia. Same as there is no more a good tiga puluh there is no more a good red square, at least for now ;-)

  19. Guys need your help!! I'llbe staying in IBIS Mangga dua and planning to party at Red Square. Can you advise far is it from where I'm Staying?? Any tai I shd take and what are the chances to bring a girl back to my room?

    ReplyDelete
  20. sorry.. Tai** meant taxi

    ReplyDelete
  21. Red Square is quite far from Mangga Dua.. If you leave in the evening around 9pm, the traffic should not be too bad and it will take you 20 to 30 minutes approximately (but more than an hour during rush hour)

Take Blue Bird or Express, both are good brands and there are plenty of them everywhere. In Red Square, if you're not too shy and not too bad looking, you have a 50% chance to find a girl (80% if you look foreign)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Thanks Brice. Appreciate your reply. Definetly I'm a foreigner. By the way, is there any other place for girlie bar (decent one) around mangga dua. Not really keen on wasting my time in a taxi,

    ReplyDelete
  23. Many bars around Mangga Dua, some trashy, some clean, but in all the ones I can think of, the girl crowd is made of prostitutes mostly. It doesn't mean you have to pay though if you play it smartly. You could check Flirt bar and Alexis (1st floor). I didn't try it but maybe there is a new club also in Grand Asia Hotel. Other venues are mostly striptease joints, such as MStar, Grand Comfort. At last, you could check also the bar of the hotl Le Grandeur, which has live jazz every night.

  25. Heading there tonight 24 nov 2011. Will give my thoughts upon my return from here. Wish me luck people!!

  26. The place is good but small. I thought it would be much bigger than it was. Got there around 10:30 pm and I was way too early. The place doesn't start happening until midnight or so. Drinks are decently priced. They are generous with the pour they don't use a measuring cup to pour liquor into your glass it's straight from the bottle. You know what I mean?? The lingerie thing was whack!! They had only 3 girls up there dancing and they weren't all that. They were decent but nothing like model material. They would go one for a few sings and then go and change wait about an hour then go back on. Also later on in the night you would see people get up there and dance too. I got up there for a bit too. Lol!! Overall a good club but wish it actually had a dance floor. That would be nice!!

  36. We tried to go to this place and we saw tens of thousands of locals surrounding the area and it looked very shady and unsafe. We just ended up checking out CJs, BATS, and Malio Club. If you're a young guy, don't go to CJs and BATS. They are mostly for desperate old and fat foreigners who have no problems going for not-so-attractive used and worn out women. Malio club was definitely the most entertaining club by far. I would just stay there for the entire night.

  38. Hi,
I am giving you this review with my personal experience. I entered Jakarta life few months back, and I have visited BATS, CJs, X2, Equinox and few others in the area including Kemang. But as per my experience Red Square is most entertaining and sexy bar. Of-course the price is similar to above names. I always go alone and have 3-5 drinks, depend on the crowd and music. I always found this place friendly, and u can find English speaking girls easily. So, no worry if u don't know Bahasha, as I also don't know Bahasa. I have met with lots of good and bad girls here, and now best filtered are my close friends.
Tip to boys: if you go there, don't waste money on girls, on their drinks and for full show, if you good looking(ofcourse not Tom cruise), and can speak to girls openly, you can enjoy everything without paying much or sometime nothing. If you are lucky you can find good honest Girls from nice family, otherwise pay as you go or can afford. And, you can find some girls same between Cjs and Red Squre.
I love this place more than any other club. Even I sometime go to CJs also, but after Cjs, I go to Red Squre, just to satisfy myself....hahaahahaha

  39. "seriously" are you talking about the same place I went there the other night total cock forest I counted 5 girls and some 40 guys expensive drinks poor service totally unimpressed

    ReplyDelete
  40. I went there with a buddy. They let us in free. We were the ONLY two people there. Left for BATS....BATS was packed...must have been one of the empty nights for RS!

    3. Dear Thibaud,

Could you please change this wrong info? Because red square never change to revolution and the management don't even have anything to do with revolution.
The real Red Square Jakarta will re open soon.
      Thank you to fix this.

      Regards,
      Randy

      Delete
    4. Hi Randy, thank you for your precision. To make things clear: Revolution was started by some people from the original Red Square team who don't own the name "Red Square". The new "Red Square" will be opened by the real owners, but without some key people from the management team of the original Red Square.
