McGettigan's Irish Pub and Sports Bar (Jakarta)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
McGettigan's is a brand-new Irish pub and sports bar that had its grand opening on May 16th, 2017. Located in Mega Kuningan, in the basement of Menara BTPN, it is part of a larger group with 15 locations around the world (including Dubai, Singapore, New York, and of course Ireland - see more here: McGettigan's ). I had a chance to visit it a few weeks before their official opening on a Saturday night and what I saw looked promising. McGettigan's is easy to find, just across the road from the Ritz-Carlton, and walking distance from famous bars like Loewy or Basque. It is in a business district so it gets particularly busy for lunch and after office hours. It is built on one spacious floor, with several distinct spaces for customers to sit down: On the left corner, a quiet dining area with private booths and tables. In the back, a long and elegant bar that serves 8 kinds of draught beer. In the center, several high tables and chairs for more casual meals

Meeting Indonesian Girls with Cheers App (Sponsored Post)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
In my article about online dating in Indonesia , I gave several suggestions of apps and websites to help you meet with local girls. Since then, I recently discovered a new one called Cheers , with a promising concept. While it is more than just a dating app, its features offer various possibilities for meeting girls that I will detail below. What Is Cheers? The idea behind Cheers is simple: You can either create an event (for instance: a dinner for two, a party in a club, a weekend to Bali, etc.) or apply to attend an event. So far, nothing extraordinary. The truly interesting part is that money is involved. Whenever you create an event, you also pledge a certain amount of cash (through prepaid credits) to the person who will attend it. Simply put, Cheers can help you find someone willing to accompany you for money. You can also make money from it by applying to other people's events. Logically, most of the people creating events are guys, and the ones attending e

Indonesia Nightlife: 12 Best Cities for Partying

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
I've partied in all the major cities in Indonesia (as well as in much smaller ones!) so I thought it could be useful to summarize everything I've learned in one article. Hopefully it will give you ideas for your next trip! Without further ado, please find below the 12 best cities/regions for nightlife in Indonesia: Jakarta Jakarta is without any doubt the best city for partying in Indonesia. There are at least 20 decent nightclubs, more than 100 bars, and thousands of restaurants. The mindset is also quite liberal (at least in the upper class) and you'll find some wild venues like no other in the country (strip clubs, luxury massage parlors, etc). Since most of the clubbers are expats or wealthy Indonesians, you'll need to dress up and to spend quite a lot to have fun. If you are looking forward meeting beautiful women , Jakarta is fantastic too. → Most recommended venues: Jenja , Immigrant , Dragonfly , X2 , Basque → Where to stay near the nightlife

Bishkek Nightlife - Best Bars and Nightclubs - Kyrgyzstan (2017)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
I stayed in Bishkek for a short week while visiting Kyrgyzstan in June 2017. Naturally, I was curious to discover its nightlife, which was recommended to me by several friends. Since I was there during Ramadan, I was afraid the bars and nightclubs would be closed, but everything was normal, albeit slightly quieter than usual. My first difficulty was the lack of information about partying in Bishkek. Almost everything you'll find online is outdated or in Russian (Retro and Golden Bull are closed for instance). Luckily, on my first night out I met an expat who lived in the city for 3 years and he took everywhere I needed to go. This review is a summary of everything I learned about Bishkek nightlife. I hope you can leave comments about your own experiences as well to make it more interesting and to keep it updated. Kazakhstan (Aktau) to Azerbaijan (Baku) by Ferry

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Sailing across the Caspian Sea from Kazakhstan (Aktau) to Azerbaijan (Baku) is one of the best options for those looking to reach Europe from Asia by land or by sea. Going through Russia is usually the preferred way, but I discovered too late that Russian consulates only deliver 5 days transit visas when you apply outside of your home country. I briefly considered Turkmenistan, then gave up after realizing it was almost impossible to get the visa. Finally, crossing Afghanistan/Pakistan was out of the question for security reasons. Boats traveling on the Caspian Sea are not designed to carry tourists and, as such, they offer limited amenities and service. On the positive side, they provide an authentic cargo experience as you will be surrounded by truckers during the whole trip. Another problem is that those cargos do not follow a fixed schedule. They go back and forth between Baku and Aktau, only leaving when the captain decides so.  In general, you need to wait 2-3
