Nebula Club Jakarta (CLOSED)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Nebula is the newest nightclub in Jakarta. It is opening on June 6th and it is owned by the Stadium group (which closed only 2 weeks ago). The group is also behind the bordellos Malioboro and King Cross , and the normal club  Exodus . I think Nebula will be a mix between both types, trying to catch the normal crowd, but also with a sexy side (dancers, karaoke, etc....). I won't be able to go to the opening as I am currently in Bali, but I'm pretty excited to visit it as soon as I will be back in Jakarta. On their facebook and twitter page, they advertise Nebula as the biggest nightclub in Jakarta. Please let me know your feedback if you visit it by email thibaud@jakarta100bars.com or by posting a comment on this post. Thanks!

Bakerzin (Jakarta)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Bakerzin is a long-time favourite dessert restaurant in Jakarta. I had never visited it until recently, in the Central Park branch. The place was very busy and I could not get a table nor a waiter until a few minutes. My first impression was that everything was very confused and unorganized. The manager of the restaurant may have seen that I was getting impatient and he started to take care of me, which really improved the whole experience. The menu is not just a menu, it is a full book with photos and text. My initial plan was to eat, but the pictures didn't look appetizing. I just took a Strawberry Juice and a Cherry Flan. Both were very average and they didn't match with the expectations one could have about Bakerzin considering its prices, its marketing, its locations (high-end malls), and its success. Overall : I will not try Bakerzin again. Opening hours: From 10am to 10pm every day (following the mall schedule) Contact Details of Bakerzin Restauran

La Bière Restaurant Beer House

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
La Bière (the beer in French) is a restaurant with Indonesian and Western food, and more importantly, a late-night hangout spot in the Central Park mall (Tribeca). I didn't try the food, but from what many food blogs are saying, it is rather good, though more expensive than average. To have a beer, it is perfect especially on Friday and Saturday as it doesn't close before 3am. It isn't extraordinary, but you don't have so much choice if you live in the area anyway. Opening hours: Everyday from 11am to midnight (and 3am on weekends)

Pancious Pancake House

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Pancious is a popular chain of restaurants specializing in pancakes and waffles, with also some main course dishes such as pasta, steaks and burgers. They are all located in malls, including the one I tried in Plaza Indonesia. While the setting is unimpressive and dull, my first positive impression came from the friendly waiters, who welcomed me with smiles and took the time to chat. I ordered a cheese burger (Rp44,000++), a strawberry juice (Rp26,000++), and the regular pancakes (Rp26,000++). I was pleasantly surprised with all my food, which tasted good and was moderately priced (for a mall). The juice was made of real fruits, the pancakes were similar to what I had before in the US, and the ingredients of the burger were all fresh and fair quality. Cheeseburger (Rp44,500++) Overall : I was very satisfied with my experience in Pancious. It's not the place for a romantic dinner, but for a snack or an informal meal with friends, it is perfect. Opening hours: Everyday from 10am

Red Tomato (Hand-Tossed Pizzas)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Originally owned by a Korean entrepreneur, Red Tomato now belongs to an Indonesian group, with their main location in Plaza Indonesia. It is a casual dining venue with a menu and theme inspired by Italy, if not authentic Italian. Red Tomato looks like your typical mall restaurant: Bright, fun, and with a lot of marketing behind it. I tried a few items, including the Italian Seafood Soup (Rp37,000++), the Dancing Pasta (Rp45,000), and the regular Pizza Margharita (Rp39,000). The prices may not seem very high, but the portions are so small, in particular the pizza, that one dish may not be sufficient to feel full. For a 2-course meal, I would say the average bill for one person should be slightly above Rp100,000.
