Boca Rica Tapas Bar & Lounge (Jakarta)

By Jakarta100bars →
Boca Rica is an upper-class restaurant/bar/club located on the ground floor of the  Crowne Plaza Hotel , which is inside Mangkuluhur City. The latter is a high-end mixed-use complex belonging to Tommy Soeharto and named after his son, Darma Mangkuluhur Hutomo (who happens to be the owner of Boca Rica). Since its opening at the end of 2018, it has become one of the hotspots of Jakarta nightlife. Its crowd is a mix between that of Léon (high-class, socialites, celebrities) and that of Basque (expats, travelers, businessmen). Because the entrance is free on most nights, it has also attracted a younger crowd who can't afford more established clubs like Dragonfly or Blowfish. I haven't tried the restaurant, so I won't comment on that. I just know that it serves a Spanish-inspired menu with around 20 types of Tapas (costing between IDR 75,000 and IDR 250,000 each). They also have the usual burgers, grilled chicken, steaks and fish. Drinks are pricey, like everyw

¿Por Que No? - Tapas Bar - Jakarta

By Jakarta100bars →
¿Por Que No? was opened in 2015 as a Spanish tapas bar and restaurant in the neighborhood of Menteng, at the northern end of Jalan Rasuna Said. While the food is decent but definitely not haute cuisine, it is an interesting venue to hangout and drink before party. Cocktails are just above Rp100,000 net and Bintang at Rp50,000 net, which is not that bad considering the central location. The food is more expensive and the portions small (obviously, small like tapas). There are 2 different areas, indoor and outdoor. Outdoor is a small rooftop where regular events are organized. In particular, they have some techno nights that attract a young and fun crowd. You also have jazz nights, open mic nights, etc. Check their Facebook page or Instagram below to get their latest schedule.

Basque Spanish Restaurant and Tapas Bar (Jakarta)

By Jakarta100bars →
Basque is one of the most happening new restaurants/bars to open so far this year in Jakarta. It is a Spanish restaurant / Tapas bar with a great design, good food and a trendy feel. Currently, I see that more and more expats are hanging out there instead of Loewy. It is a good pick-up place for girls also. The location on the 8th floor of Noble House offers a nice view on the surrounding buildings of Mega Kuningan. The food is not so expensive, you can get a decent meal for less than Rp200,000.  It is open every day for lunch and dinner. After 11pm, they generally turn up the volume and it turns into a bar. The music is a mix of popular songs from the past 20 years. Plan B (Spanish Restaurant Jakarta)

By Jakarta100bars →
Plan B is among the best Spanish restaurants in Jakarta . One of the reasons for that is the involvement of the 2 Spanish owners, in the kitchen and in the restaurant. They give a homey feeling to their place by welcoming guests and making sure everything is fine with their dining experience. The staff is also fast and friendly.  I tried small dishes and appetizers only, which are not representative of their cuisine. I should still make a new visit to sample more items on the menu. What I had was quite simple and small but good (Greek Salad at 34,000rp++ and Salmon Carpaccio at 45,000rp++). It is not fine dining, rather home-style cooking at a reasonable price.

Cuadrilla Restaurant (Kemang)

By Jakarta100bars →
Cuadrilla is a small restaurant in Kemang, serving Italian, Spanish and Greek food. It has only a few tables and the prices are affordable. I tried the Greek Salad (47,000rp++) and the Pita Bread with Tzatziki (23,000rp ++). Considering the price, it was very decent. The Paella seems to be their signature dish so I would be happy to come back to try it. Overall : Recommended for lunch if you live in Kemang. They had fast wifi too and the waiters were very friendly. The music played was Latin mostly, including Bossa Nova, Manu Chao, and maybe Bonga (?).

The Best Spanish & Mexican Restaurants in Jakarta

By Jakarta100bars →
In just a few years, the number of Mexican/Spanish/Latin restaurants in Jakarta has exploded. 5 years ago, to my knowledge there was only Amigos, and now I counted over 10 of them. I know it doesn't really make sense to mix Mexican and Spanish food into one single review as they are not related at all but I think they are part of a similar trend.  Jakartans are craving for convivial ways to eat: Restaurants that are modern without being uptight and where the food can be shared with friends. Latin countries also have a positive image in the mind of many. Tell them Spain, and they think Party, Sexy, Friendly or Fun (and probably Soccer). Most of those new Spanish/Mexican restaurants are located in the expatriate areas of Jakarta: Kemang, Cipete, Sudirman/Thamrin. Only Caliente (Mexican) has a branch in Pantai Indah Kapuk and Tapas Movida has one in Cilandak (CITOS). I ranked the restaurants according to several criteria: Food, authenticity, value for money, atmosphere, co

Tapas Movida (Spanish Restaurant Jakarta)

By Jakarta100bars →
Tapas Movida is a Spanish restaurant with 2 locations in Jakarta, in Cipete Raya and Cilandak Town Square (Citos). I tried only the branch in Cipete where the food was decent and reasonably priced. I liked their booths, very comfortable and intimate. The music was a selection of songs that could be on a Buddha Bar playlist: Lounge, electronic, chill, etc... Very enjoyable. Tapas Movida was not very crowded but it was the middle of the afternoon. At night, it is usually busy with expatriates living in the area. Overall : Recommended if you live in Cipete for good-value Spanish food in a cozy atmosphere. Suitable for dates too. The Wifi in Tapas Movida was fast (up to 400kb/sec). Opening Hours: From 10am to 11pm, every day in Cipete. From 10am to 10pm in Citos. Phone number: +62-21 7510 851 Email: tapasmovida@yahoo.com
