Malibu Massage (Serpong)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Malibu is a small and affordable massage parlour that opened in August 2015 in Serpong (Tangerang). It is cozy and clean, with a choice of approximately 10 girls. They only offer a handjob finishing with "ice sensation". Full sex is not available. The price is all inclusive: Room + 90 minute massage + HJ. There are 3 types of rooms: VIP with AC and shower inside (Rp100,000), Suite with AC and bathtube (Rp130,000) and President with Jacuzzi (Rp150,000).

The Venesia BSD - Tangerang Nightlife

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Update December 2016:  I went to Venesia with a friend last Saturday night. The entrance fee was Rp150,000 (Rp100,000 during week days) so we hesitated a bit before paying. We finally did after the receptionist told us the club was full. It turned out she lied and it was almost empty. The only people there were a group of 3 lady companions who were playing on their phones and didn't even acknowledge our presence. The DJ was playing music from the 90s (Ace of Base, Inner Circle, etc). Just before leaving, we ordered a beer and it turned out the price was Rp75,000 each. Original review: The Venesia Executive Hotel, Club and Karaoke is located in BSD (Bumi Serpong Damai) in Tangerang. It is at least one hour away from Jakarta. To my knowledge, it is the only upper class one-stop entertainment venue in Tangerang. For those who don't know, one-stop entertainment venues in Indonesia are big complexes with generally a hotel, a spa, a karaoke, a restaurant and a clu

Holycow! Steakhouse And Steak Hotel by Holycow! What Differences?

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
My title was voluntarily misleading. I don't believe there are true differences between both brands as they operate with the same concept. Both are chains of affordable steak restaurants which are lively, colorful and with a viral marketing all about Twitter and Facebook. They offer decent steaks, but it isn't the best imports or the best cooking you will find (except if you take their most expensive cuts). Holycow! was opened by self-trained Chef Afit Dwi Purwanto (who worked previously as a manager on RCTI channel) and his wife Lucy Wiryono, a TV host. So far, they have 6 branches in Jakarta, 1 in Bali and 1 in Yogyakarta. Their menu is short and features Sirloin, Ribeye and Tenderloin steaks from Australia and US. They also serve Wagyu beef. I visited the Bali branch which was very busy in the evening. Most of the customers were Indonesians, seemingly from Jakarta. I had the prime Tenderloin steak (imported from Australia) (91k +12,5% tax and service). I

Astons Specialties (Bar, Coffee, Grill)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Astons Specialties is a Singaporean chain of restaurants serving Western food and drinks. They have only one location in Indonesia currently, in Alam Sutera Living World Mall (next to Mercure Hotel). I wanted to try this place as I read that its owner wanted to bring "affordable western cuisine" especially steaks to its customers. I was disappointed when I saw the menu because the steaks were certainly not inexpensive: Minimum 130,000rp++ for Prime Sirloin, up to 260,000rp++ for the Wagyu Ribeye Grade 6. These prices are very standards for Jakarta and Astons will certainly not have a competitive advantage on the prices.

Lekker Bekker (Dutch Restaurants)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Lekker Bekker - Home Style Cooking - is a Dutch / Indonesian restaurant chain with locations in Summarecon Mall Serpong, Tebet, and Alam Sutera Mall. They sell Dutch and Indonesian favourites for a reasonable price, and with average quality (to be fair, I only tasted the Bolletjes with Ice Cream 24,000rp). I went to the one in Alam Sutera. The design is cute but very girly and kitsch (plastic flowers, plastic plates hanging on the walls, box of cereals as decoration). The music played was Dutch love songs, which if you are not Dutch are very difficult to enjoy.

White Hunter Ribs & Steaks (Indonesia)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
I tried White Hunter because it is one of the few Western-looking restaurants in Emporium Mall Pluit.  It is next to Han Gang and Incognito, which both belong to the same Medanese owner. I visited around 6pm and it was rather empty. Even worse, no music was playing so I was not sure if it was opened or not. I had a hamburger. The presentation was ok, but the meat was cold and not 100% beef. It really did not taste good. The only thing that saved the place was the staff who was very friendly.
