Ibiza Club (Pluit)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Ibiza is one of the few normal happening clubs in Northern Jakarta. When I say "normal", it means you can go with your girlfriend as it is not only drugs, dark corners and prostitutes. They do have sexy dancers though. They have been running for over a year now and they have established themselves as the place to go after midnight in the Pluit area for those who don't want to go to the city center. It is rather big (1000 pax capacity) and open 6 days a week. The crowd is mixed Indonesian and Indo-Chinese. It has regular events with DJs (all style: Trance, Electro, Rn'B), Dance Shows and Live Music. Check their facebook/twitter below for updates.

Bebek Tepi Sawah Restaurants

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
I visited the original branch of Bebek Tepi Sawah in Ubud a few years ago. I was disappointed at that time as it was expensive, overcrowded with groups of tourists, and the taste was really unexceptional. I blacklisted it in my mind and considered it a tourist trap. In the past few years, the brand has opened outlets everywhere in malls in Jakarta, Yogyakarta and Bali. I thought that the management may have changed and that it would be worth having another try. I did so in Beachwalk in Kuta. My first impression was not too good. I was greeted by an apathetic waitress that I felt I was bothering. She gave me the menu and left. It took me 10 minutes to get another waiter, more friendly, to come to me and take my order. The menu features all kinds of Indonesian and International dishes with a large choice of drinks. It is so big that I cannot imagine the team in the kitchen is able to prepare them all correctly. Since Bebek Tepi Sawah means "the duck from the ri

Dharma Kitchen (Vegetarian Restaurant Jakarta)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
There are few options for vegetarians in Jakarta so I was curious to try Dharma Kitchen on the 5th floor of Grand Indonesia. They have branches elsewhere in Jakarta, in Pluit, Central Park and Senayan City. I was a bit disappointed after looking at the menu, because it features many junk food. I may ask too much, but I was hoping to finally find a place in Jakarta with a focus on fresh, quality ingredients cooked in a healthy way. This is not the concept behind Dharma: Their concept is to serve you all the food you normally have in a restaurant, but to replace the meat by an alternative product (usually made of soybean or mushroom). Menu Dharma Kitchen I wanted to see if they had an original way to cook their burgers, so I went for the Chicken one. It was terrible. The taste was not good at all, it was full of sauce and the french fries had a weird taste (according to my friend they use the lowest quality potatoes). Vegetarian Chicken Burger

Gran Magnolia Spa (PIK, Pondok Indah)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Gran Magnolia Spa is a clean / affordable massage parlour for man only. It is located in Pantail Indah Kapuk, in Pluit. The spa opened just recently and I haven't visited it yet. The information I could gather about it so far: The facilities include a whirlpool, a sauna, a lounge, and various thematic massage rooms (Hawaiian, Egyptian, Cosmic, Library... see photos of the rooms below). When you choose a thematic room, the masseuse will also wear a special uniform matching the style of the room. The prices are currently at 118,000rp for 90min in Deluxe and 168,000rp in VIP room, but this is because of the Soft Opening. The normal ones should be double of that. There is also a Magnolia Spa in Pondok Indah which offers similar services with Delta , but cheaper. We can expect that Gran Magnolia in PIK will be the same. Please comment if you visit. White Hunter Ribs & Steaks (Indonesia)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
I tried White Hunter because it is one of the few Western-looking restaurants in Emporium Mall Pluit.  It is next to Han Gang and Incognito, which both belong to the same Medanese owner. I visited around 6pm and it was rather empty. Even worse, no music was playing so I was not sure if it was opened or not. I had a hamburger. The presentation was ok, but the meat was cold and not 100% beef. It really did not taste good. The only thing that saved the place was the staff who was very friendly.

Marutama Ramen (Casual Japanese Food)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Marutama Ra-men is a Japanese casual restaurant, with 4 locations in Jakarta. I visited the one in eX Plaza Indonesia, just in front of the XXI cinemas. They have two main specialties: Ramen (Japanese noodle) and Nabe (Japanese hot pot). We took the Nabe, a soup with vegetables (Rp35,000++) to which you can add various items. In our case, we ordered a Chicken (Rp24,000++), Fish ball (Rp18,000++), Tofu (Rp9,000++) and Cabbage (Rp9,000) supplement. As you can see, the price of your meal may vary from simple to triple depending on your appetite. On average though, you shouldn't pay more than Rp100,000, and I think that's enough for two persons. Marutaman Nabe Overall: I rarely go to Japanese restaurants so it's difficult for me to assess how a dish tastes in comparison with the authentic version. Yet, I've read many mixed-to-positive reviews about this place, and both my friend and I enjoyed our meal: The ingredients were fresh and flavorful, and the soup was healthy

Pancious Pancake House

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Pancious is a popular chain of restaurants specializing in pancakes and waffles, with also some main course dishes such as pasta, steaks and burgers. They are all located in malls, including the one I tried in Plaza Indonesia. While the setting is unimpressive and dull, my first positive impression came from the friendly waiters, who welcomed me with smiles and took the time to chat. I ordered a cheese burger (Rp44,000++), a strawberry juice (Rp26,000++), and the regular pancakes (Rp26,000++). I was pleasantly surprised with all my food, which tasted good and was moderately priced (for a mall). The juice was made of real fruits, the pancakes were similar to what I had before in the US, and the ingredients of the burger were all fresh and fair quality. Cheeseburger (Rp44,500++) Overall : I was very satisfied with my experience in Pancious. It's not the place for a romantic dinner, but for a snack or an informal meal with friends, it is perfect. Opening hours: Everyday from 10am
