McGettigan's Irish Pub and Sports Bar (Jakarta)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
McGettigan's is a brand-new Irish pub and sports bar that had its grand opening on May 16th, 2017. Located in Mega Kuningan, in the basement of Menara BTPN, it is part of a larger group with 17 locations around the world (including Dubai, Singapore, New York, and of course Ireland - see more here: McGettigan's ). I had a chance to visit it a few weeks before their official opening on a Saturday night and what I saw looked promising. McGettigan's is easy to find, just across the road from the Ritz-Carlton, and walking distance from famous bars like Loewy or Basque. It is in a business district so it gets particularly busy for lunch and after office hours. It is built on one spacious floor, with several distinct spaces for customers to sit down: On the left corner, a quiet dining area with private booths and tables. In the back, a long and elegant bar that serves 9 kinds of draught beer. In the center, several high tables and chairs for more casual me

Omnia Nightclub (Jakarta) - Alila SCBD

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Omnia is a nightclub that will open in Jakarta at the end of 2016/early 2017 inside the new Alila Hotel SCBD (in front of Pacific Place). It is part of the group Hakkasan which already operates two Omnia nightclubs in Las Vegas and San Diego. The one in Las Vegas is one the largest and most luxurious nightclubs in the world. Located inside the Caesar's Palace Hotel , Calvin Harris is one of its resident DJs and it is where Justin Bieber celebrated his 21st birthday. It is unlikely that Omnia Jakarta will attracts such VIPs, but it will certainly be a game-changer for the nightlife of the city. They will also open an Omnia day club in Bali in Alila Uluwatu.

The Pallas (Lounge, Restaurant and Event Space)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
The Pallas is a new restaurant, lounge and event space that opened in Fairground in SCBD. It is owned by the All In Group which is also behind Fable (in the same building), Odysseia and Mirror Nightclub in Bali.

Jenja (Jakarta)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Located in Cilandak Town Square (CiToS), Jenja is the newest nightclub to open in Jakarta. They had their first public night on August 5th, 2016 with a set from the German DJ Oliver Huntemann. It is their second branch after Bali, where  Jenja  is currently one of the best nightclubs . On the island, it is popular with expats, particularly because of the music they play (electro/tech-house/techno, the kind you would hear in Berlin, see 12 DJs I Want To See in Jakarta ). Their design is nice as well but it is not the main reason for their success in my opinion.

Wu Bar & Club (PIK - Jakarta)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Wu is a bar and nightclub located in North Jakarta. Opened recently, it is one of the few proper nightlife venues in PIK (see my review PIK Nightlife ), a trendy area among young and affluent Indochinese. Wu is actually more of a lounge where most people sit down and drink until they get so drunk they start dancing. It is better to come with a group as you are very unlikely to meet anyone if you are by yourself (unless you get invited to a table). They also serve shisha.

Bistecca (SCBD - Jakarta)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
The Union Group (behind Union, Loewy, Cork&Screw, Benedict, Casa, E&O, The Dutch, Canteen, etc...) opened Caffè Milano almost 2 years ago. Following its success, they are opening a sister restaurant called Bistecca. This new venue is still under project and it will open in August 2016. It will be located next to The Dutch  restaurant, one of the trendy spots in Jakarta nowadays. As the name suggests, the food will be mostly steaks and grilled meat, Italian-style. They will also sell fine Italian wines. The Head Chef is still Luca Pezzera. I will add information about prices, menu, opening hours, etc. when I receive them. Please comment if you know something! Update August 2016 : Bistecca is already open. Full menu available here: Drinks and Cocktails Menu Bistecca  and Food Menu Bistecca .

Baxter Smith (Senopati)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Baxter Smith is a bar and restaurant that opened in Senopati mid-2016. I only went there once for a special event on a Friday night, so I'll keep my review short until I can try again.  The bar is on the 3rd floor and it was quite busy, with an all-Indonesian crowd. It seemed people where visiting for the first time, out of curiosity. The DJ was playing good, non commercial tunes between progressive and tech house. The bartenders were fast and the drinks cheaper than the average for Senopati.

Chamber Whisky and Wine Bar (Pacific Place)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Chamber is a whisky/wine bar and restaurant squeezed between Potato Head and Cork&Screw in Pacific Place mall. It replaces Capocaccia . It is intimate and comfortable, with an outdoor and an indoor area. The design follows the current 1930s vintage trend that you can see in several speakeasy bars in Jakarta . It is a bit over the top for my taste. They target rich Indonesians by advertising a large collection of wines and spirits. Most items can only be ordered by bottle so avoid if you come alone.

Revolution Vodka Party Bar (Lotte Mall, Jakarta)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Revolution Vodka Party Bar was developed by some of the people who launched  Red Square  in Senayan Arcadia a few years ago. It is located in Lotte Avenue Mall, next to their sister Mexican restaurant  Gonzo's Tex Mex Grill . For those who don't remember, Red Square was one of Jakarta's best bars/nightclubs for expats. It was wild, packed with hot girls with usually good DJs playing a mix of commercial and underground music. I personally had a lot of fun there and I was sad when it closed.

Kila Kila by Akasya (Indonesian Restaurant)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Kila Kila is a brand new rooftop restaurant serving fine dining Indonesian cuisine. It is located not far from Pacific Place Mall and offers a beautiful view over SCBD. It is managed by Akasya Catering, a famous company owned by Enny Latief. They provided the food for numerous VIP events such as the wedding of Edhie Baskoro, the son of SBY. If their food is good enough for the president of Indonesia, it should be good enough for you too.

New Red Square Jakarta (2016)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
The Red Square  opened again on May 5th, 2016. It is located in Bank Panin building on Jalan Sudirman. That's behind STC Senayan and next to Locanta restaurant. I made the mistake to go to Panin Tower first which is next to Senayan City and not the right location.

Gonzo's Tex Mex Restaurant (Jakarta)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Gonzo's is a brand-new restaurant serving Mexican, Texan and Tex-Mex specialties. Its first location is in Lotte Mall Kuningan, slightly hidden behind Ranch Market. It doubles up as the first Margarita bar in Jakarta. The theme is Mexican but I don't think it was the objective of the owners to recreate Mexico in Jakarta. It is colorful and friendly, yet simple. Gonzo's caters to a mall crowd who needs a fun place for meeting/hanging out. They serve mostly popular dishes like Burritos, Fajitas, Steaks, Tacos, Quesadillas, etc, not fine dining Mexican food (see Full Menu ).

H Gourmet and Vibes (Senopati)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
H Gourmet and Vibes is a new trendy restaurant and bar that opened last year in the Senopati area. As I'm currently on a diet, I didn't try the food which consists mostly of fat American dishes (grilled meats, burgers, melted cheese, specialty french fries, sandwiches, etc). If you are skinny or not particularly concerned about eating healthy, I'm sure many items are as delicious as fried cheese with mayo can be. My main interest was to test the bar. I had heard many praises from friends and I wanted to see for myself. H Gourmet and Vibes is in brand new building which seems to be still under construction. Hipsters probably love that. The best thing about the place are the large windows that let you see the nearby trees with the skyscrapers in the background. In particular, you have an original clock-shaped window just behind the bar. The rest is your typical vintage-industrial design that many new venues in Jakarta I've chosen to copy from one another.
