Manila Nightlife: Best Clubs and Bars in 2019

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Note: This Manila nightlife review was updated on September 23rd, 2019. Manilla has one of the best nightlife in Asia for several reasons: -  Party atmosphere : Filipinos are famous for their fun and outgoing personalities. They love to drink, to dance, to sing, and to play music. Clubs in Manila are rarely uptight or boring, and dress codes are almost never implemented. The ambiance can get really wild, especially in the more local venues with fewer expats (in Quezon City for instance). -  Cheap prices for alcohol, entrance fees, and taxis : Even high-end nightclubs will only charge a 10$ entrance with 2 strong drinks included. You can easily get yourself drunk for 30 dollars in Manila, which is the price for one cocktail in some  bars in Singapore . -  Foreigner-friendly : English is spoken everywhere in Manila, even by security guards or taxis.  - Rather  easy to meet pretty girls  that are not prostitutes While prostitution is big in Manila with several red-l

Top 30 Hottest Filipina and Pinay FHM Models

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
This ranking of the 30 Hottest Filipina FHM Models is a follow-up to one of my most read articles Top 20 Hottest Indonesian FHM Models . I also wrote it after spending a few weeks trying Manila Nightlife . We often say that Indonesian girls look similar to Filipinas/Pinays but, as you can see below, they are actually rather different. They tend to look more "European" and to have a fairer skin. The country is less conservative as well so it is not rare for some of the models below to do nude or topless shots. I took most photos from the girls' Instagram, Facebook or Twitter account. Here are the 30 girls, ranked in no particular order. Don't hesitate to add a name in the comment section below if you think I forgot someone.

20 Famous Prostitute Bars in Luxury Hotels in Asia

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
If you are familiar with 5-star hotels in Asia, you know many of these prestigious hotels have a bar or a nightclub where freelance prostitutes can offer their services without being disturbed. On the contrary, the management of these venues often encourages working girls by giving them a free entrance and free drinks. The tolerance of the hotel managers/owners for prostitution activities within their walls may seem surprising. It is actually very logical and it can be explained easily. First, most of the clients in these hotels are males who are traveling alone, usually for business purposes. For them, the availability of (paid) sex is the main reason they will choose a brand over another. Any hotel with a happening pick-up bar is guaranteed a high-level of occupancy. Second, many clients prefer staying in hotels that have in-house bars so they can be certain they will be girl-friendly. They will feel more comfortable bringing a girl back to their room: That's wh

Draft Gastropub (Manila)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Draft Gastropub is a small chain of European-style pubs in Manila. They have 3 locations at the moment in the expat-heavy areas of BGC (The Fort) and Makati (Greenbelt 2 and Rockwell). They serve European food, including Mussels, Steaks, Pastas, Sausages, Burgers for around 400-500 PHP per person. It is above average but far from the quality you would actually get in Europe. On the menu, they do offer a wide range of imported beers.  Don't get your hopes too high as they often have problems with their stocks. Prices range from 170 PHP (Heineken) to 550 PHP (Delirium Tremens). That's a bit higher than in most pubs in Manila. For this reason, Draft attracts mostly young executive and expats instead of students.

URBN QC (Quezon City - Metro Manila)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
URBN opened a new branch in Quezon City in September 2015 (see my review of URBN BGC here). It replaces the 88 SuperClub which closed down a few months earlier. It is one of the best looking nightclubs in Quezon City. As its name suggests, it is a urban club, NY-style, with a main dancefloor and sofas all around. You have a good lighting and sound system too. The crowd is almost exclusively local, between 18 and 25. There are about 25% girls but most of them are with groups. Still, there are a few opportunities for picking up and the atmosphere is friendly. Their current best promo is 6 local beers + 1 bottle of José Cuervo for only 950PHP (less than 20$). On Wednesday, you can also get free drinks if you arrive early (50 first guests).

Today X Future Bar (Metro Manila)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Today X Future is one of the hippest bars in Quezon City (Metro Manila). It is located in the area of Cubao Expo or Cubao X, a shopping center famous for its artsy boutiques and alternative drinking joints. Prices are low: 60 PHP for a San Mig Light and 220 PHP for a Jack Coke. Today X Future is not fancy at all, yet it attracts a sophisticated crowd of hipsters, both locals and expats. If you are not in that particular bohemian state of mind, you might not enjoy it as it looks more like a mess than a place. Naturally, no dress code.

Gramercy 71 Rooftop Bar (Manila)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Gramercy 71 is one of the most popular rooftop bars/sky bars in Manila . Also a restaurant and nightclub, it is located on the 71st floor of the Gramercy Tower in Makati. The tower is not far from other clubs like Time and Royal . The rooftop area is rather small and surprisingly, it is not as busy as the inside. The view is honestly not that great as there is no skyscrapers to look at. Manila is also very dark at night so you can barely see anything apart from a few lights. It might be better if you come at sunset (they only open at 6pm, might be too late for that). I paid an entrance  fee of 500PHP with 2 drinks included. That's quite a good deal I thought. The music was a mix of famous hits remixed by house and Rn'B DJs.

Ringside Bar - Midget Boxing - Manila

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
The Ringside Bar is a must-visit in Manila if you like weird places and oddities. Located in the red light district of Burgos in Makati, it is a hostess bar with a boxing ring instead of your usual podium. The boxing ring features all kind of shows including midget boxing or bargirls oil fighting. How much fun you'll have in the Ringside Bar probably depends on how much alcohol you've drank. It's probably best to be a bit tipsy before entering to make sure your mind is prepared.
