Troy 518 Pool and Lounge (Kelapa Gading)

By Jakarta100bars →
Troy 518 is a bar, nightclub and billiard lounge located in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta. It is on the first floor of an office building, Harton Tower, next to McDonald's. Opened in mid-2016, I only heard of it recently and I visited it yesterday (Saturday, April 29th) at 2 AM.  It is a bit far from Jakarta's main nightlife district (SCBD), but at night, with no traffic, you can reach it in only 15-20 minutes.

Savanna Rooftop Bar and Restaurant (Kelapa Gading)

By Jakarta100bars →
Savanna is a brand new rooftop bar and restaurant that opened in Kelapa Gading in March 2016. It is one of the nicest venues in the area to have a drink. It seems one of the owners is Dada Hartoto Hardikusumo, an heir to the shipping company Andhika Lines. She was the Chef of Moya's Spanish Restaurant and she was also involved in other Spanish venues (Gusto in Epicentrum and Que Rico Hamburguesa in Kemang). They have regular events such as live music and DJs. Friday night is Rn'B, otherwise it's more house and EDM. They also have stand up comedians on Saturday.

Nuage (Whiz Prime, Kelapa Gading, Jakarta)

By Jakarta100bars →
Nuage is the bar of the  Whiz Prime Hotel  in Kelapa Gading. It is in the same location as Level 5 karaoke and Portable Kitchen and Lounge. It is rather basic, with cheap chairs and cabanas around a large swimming pool. It is technically a rooftop bar, but only on the third floor of the building so don't expect a spectacular view. The whole complex is owned by the infamous Stadium group (Malioboro, King Cross, Exodus, Nebula). Yet, there is nothing really kinky going on in Nuage. This might explain why the place is not so busy compared to the other ones. In spite of being quiet, they have enough budget to pay a team of resident DJs as well as a regular live band. In general, the DJs will play a mix of Rn'B, EDM and Top 40. Wednesday is 80s and 90s favorites and Friday live acoustic rock. Once in a while they have ex-Stadium DJs. You can get more information about their schedule on their Instagram account below.

Level 5 Karaoke (Jakarta)

By Jakarta100bars →
Level 5 (also spelled Level V) is one of the most popular luxury karaokes in North Jakarta along with Crown, Illigals, Alexis and Paragon. Located in  Whiz Prime Hotel , it is next to Nuage and it belongs to the Stadium Group (Malioboro, King Cross, Nebula, Exodus, Sumo).

D'Heaven Hotel And Spa

By Jakarta100bars →
Opened in 2012, D'Heaven Spa is a mid-range male bordello disguised as a massage parlour. There are two location in Jakarta in Kelapa Gading and a recently opened branch in Grand Wijaya (South Jakarta). It is a popular spa with Indonesians looking for value for money treatments and relief. Considering the crackdown on online prostitution currently happening in Jakarta, I was surprised that the management of D'Heaven is advertising the sexual services of its spa everywhere on the internet. It is not hiding that the massage is always naked, that the client can get "petik mangga" (play with balls) and that with the proper "tip", you can get more than just a massage. According to the information provided on Kaskus forum for instance (in Indonesian), a HJ will require a 100,000rp tip, a BJ will require a 200,000rp tip and FJ will cost you an additional 300,000rp tip. This is just for the tip paid directly to the girl. You also have to pay

Holycow! Steakhouse And Steak Hotel by Holycow! What Differences?

By Jakarta100bars →
My title was voluntarily misleading. I don't believe there are true differences between both brands as they operate with the same concept. Both are chains of affordable steak restaurants which are lively, colorful and with a viral marketing all about Twitter and Facebook. They offer decent steaks, but it isn't the best imports or the best cooking you will find (except if you take their most expensive cuts). Holycow! was opened by self-trained Chef Afit Dwi Purwanto (who worked previously as a manager on RCTI channel) and his wife Lucy Wiryono, a TV host. So far, they have 6 branches in Jakarta, 1 in Bali and 1 in Yogyakarta. Their menu is short and features Sirloin, Ribeye and Tenderloin steaks from Australia and US. They also serve Wagyu beef. I visited the Bali branch which was very busy in the evening. Most of the customers were Indonesians, seemingly from Jakarta. I had the prime Tenderloin steak (imported from Australia) (91k +12,5% tax and service). I

Carnivor Grill Restaurant (The Meat Company)

By Unknown →
Carnivor is a small chain of steak and meat restaurants. They have four locations in Indonesia at the moment (see below for the list of Carnivor restaurants). I tried the branch of Pantai Indah Kapuk, one of the busiest restaurants in this area on that day. Carnivor seemed to be very popular with a young and trendy crowd, especially Indo-Chinese people. They have a nice atmosphere with good lounge music and a modern design. The toilets were quite dirty though. I had a Wagyu Ribeye for Rp 215k++ which isn't cheap but it was worth it since all was excellent: The cooking, the tenderness, the side dishes. Only the sauce was average. Overall : Recommended restaurant if you want to eat a quality, affordable steak in Jakarta.

Bakerzin (Jakarta)

By Jakarta100bars →
Bakerzin is a long-time favourite dessert restaurant in Jakarta. I had never visited it until recently, in the Central Park branch. The place was very busy and I could not get a table nor a waiter until a few minutes. My first impression was that everything was very confused and unorganized. The manager of the restaurant may have seen that I was getting impatient and he started to take care of me, which really improved the whole experience. The menu is not just a menu, it is a full book with photos and text. My initial plan was to eat, but the pictures didn't look appetizing. I just took a Strawberry Juice and a Cherry Flan. Both were very average and they didn't match with the expectations one could have about Bakerzin considering its prices, its marketing, its locations (high-end malls), and its success. Overall : I will not try Bakerzin again. Opening hours: From 10am to 10pm every day (following the mall schedule) Contact Details of Bakerzin Restauran
