10 Best Bars Near Grand Indonesia / Plaza Indonesia (Central Jakarta)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
The area near the malls Grand Indonesia and Plaza Indonesia, around the iconic Bunderan Hotel Indonesia (Hotel Indonesia roundabout) is one of the most strategic to meet friends for drinks and party in Jakarta. It is also an ideal location for inviting someone on a date. The main reason for that is that it is positioned in the center of the city, along Jalan Sudirman- Jalan Thamrin, its most important thoroughfare. It is therefore easy to reach, either by private car or by public transportation (Transjakarta and soon, the MRT). It is no surprise that I rated it the best area to stay in Jakarta . Naturally, you can find plenty of activities and businesses there, including 5-star hotels, luxury malls, prestigious office buildings, and, of course, a lively nightlife. In this article, I will review my top 10 favorite bars and clubs in Grand Indonesia / Plaza Indonesia. Please don't hesitate to leave a comment if you think I forgot an important venue. Camden Bar (Cikini and Gandaria)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
I had been to Camden bar in Bandung , but never to their two branches in Jakarta. I corrected this mistake last weekend by visiting both Camden Gandaria and Camden Cikini in one evening. Both bars are very popular, almost any day of the week with a clientele of Indonesians in their early 20s. Cikini's crowd is more upper-class (including a few foreigners - backpackers and interns) while in Gandaria you have mostly young students. Typically, they will buy a beer tower (IDR250,000) and share it at a table with some snacks.

Savoi Ultra Lounge (Senopati)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Savoi Lounge is a new boutique nightclub in Senopati, just in front of Monty's , in the building where Ms Choo used to be located. It is owned by the same people behind Empirica in SCBD (Enzo Group). I visited it on Saturday 29th April 2017 at 1 AM. It occupies 3 floors: - The first one is a private room that I wasn't able to see. - The second one is the largest. It has a DJ booth, a stage, a bar, and small tables filling as much space as possible. There is no dance floor and most people are sitting down with a group of friends. It is so packed that you can easily socialize and network with those around you. That's the whole point with a place like this. - The third one is a mezzanine from where you can look at the main stage. It is a bit more quiet and relaxed, and the bar is larger.  The music is commercial EDM, Hip Hop and Top 40 at a bearable sound level. They also have live music on most days (see their Instagram ).

Hooters (Jakarta)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
When I first heard that Hooters was coming to Jakarta, my first thought was that it would make a perfect target for the FPI or any other religious groups. I was skeptical that it would actually open, and if it did, I remember saying to friends that I would not feel safe visiting it. It turns out I was wrong. The first Hooters in Indonesia official opened in Jakarta last Friday (March 24th), and I went there yesterday (March 28th). For those who don't know, Hooters is a cultural icon in America. It is a chain of sports' bars/restaurants where all the waitresses are pretty girls in sexy outfits. They tend to flirt a bit with customers as a way to encourage repeat visits. The exact location is in Kemang, just in front of Eastern Promise. The entrance is rather discreet, especially with the Hooters sign being plugged off at the moment (is it on purpose?).

Classic Club Karaoke & Massage Parlour (or Bunker) (Classic Hotel, Jl. K.H. Samanhudi 43-45, Pasar Baru Jakarta)

By The Jakarta Team →
I went to Classic Club after hearing of a club named "the Bunker"... enough to arouse my curiosity. It took me two months of investigation to find it. The bar is in Classic Hotel and it is actually called Classic Club. It is a one-stop entertainment nightclub with spa/karaoke/massage, a bit like Malioboro , with lots of girls from Uzbekistan also. 100% prostitutes. The patrons are mostly Indonesians (no european/american expats but a few Indian and Arab) in their 30s or 40s, so the music is not the hippest you will hear in Jakarta. On the second floor, there is a room called Terminal Classic , where you can see full nude sexy dancers, and lots of them. Famous because you can ask for a threesome. On the 5th floor, there is an even larger room, with more prostitutes and more sexy dancers. In case you are wondering, YES it is possible to sleep in the hotel. The best way is to book through Agoda at the following address: Book Classic Hotel Jakarta .

Karumba Rooftop Rum Bar - South Jakarta

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
While I was staying in Mercure Simatupang , I had the opportunity to try their rooftop rum bar, Karumba. Located on the 19th floor of the hotel, it is a Carribean-themed venue with a more than 180° view of Jakarta's skyline. In particular, you can face the Central Business District and, in the late afternoon, the sunset. It is a simple bar, semi-open, with a relaxing atmosphere. Everything is made to help you forget the daily stress of living in Jakarta: Laid-back music, smiling waiters and waitresses, colorful furniture and posters, and even a small swimming pool... Based on my observations, it seems to be popular with Indonesian women. Many will come in large groups to celebrate birthdays, baby showers, weddings or "Arisan" (social gatherings).

Masters Sports Bar (Bellagio - Mega Kuningan)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Masters Sports Bar and Restaurant is located on the ground floor of Bellagio Mall in Mega Kuningan. The place looks unassuming from the outside and you may have already walked past without noticing it. Should you decide to step inside, you'll be surprised to find a spacious 350m2 area with a long wooden bar, a 50-seat dining area, 2 professional electronic dart boards and 5 full-size tournament pool tables. Unlike the trendy venues nearby like Loewy or Basque, Masters has a much more laid-back atmosphere, perfect if you are looking for a quiet place to chill after work. Later in the evening, it gets a bit more loud and busy, especially on Friday and Saturday as they have a live band. It is one of the few dedicated sports bars in Jakarta and it features at least 8 different TVs, including two massive HD projector screens near the entrance. It must be among the largest ones I've seen anywhere in Asia. If there is any live sports event in the world, you are prett
