Classic Club Karaoke & Massage Parlour (or Bunker) (Classic Hotel, Jl. K.H. Samanhudi 43-45, Pasar Baru Jakarta)

By The Jakarta Team →
I went to Classic Club after hearing of a club named "the Bunker"... enough to arouse my curiosity. It took me two months of investigation to find it. The bar is in Classic Hotel and it is actually called Classic Club. It is a one-stop entertainment nightclub with spa/karaoke/massage, a bit like Malioboro , with lots of girls from Uzbekistan also. 100% prostitutes. The patrons are mostly Indonesians (no european/american expats but a few Indian and Arab) in their 30s or 40s, so the music is not the hippest you will hear in Jakarta. On the second floor, there is a room called Terminal Classic , where you can see full nude sexy dancers, and lots of them. Famous because you can ask for a threesome. On the 5th floor, there is an even larger room, with more prostitutes and more sexy dancers. In case you are wondering, YES it is possible to sleep in the hotel. The best way is to book through Agoda at the following address: Book Classic Hotel Jakarta .

Graffiti Restaurant (Hotel Mercure TB Simatupang)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Graffiti Bistro is a restaurant and café located on the ground floor of the Mercure Simatupang Hotel . Opened all day from breakfast to dinner, it serves both International and Indonesian food. It has a playful design, with an industrial theme. Some of the walls have giant watches and clocks attached to them, while the others are painted with colorful graffitis. There is also a collection of around 50 framed photographs. The restaurant space is quite large, with at least 80 seats and a small outdoor area. During day time, large bay windows provide ample natural lighting, making it a relaxing space for hanging out or for meeting friends. It is not sophisticated or trendy, and it is even relatively quiet, but I enjoyed it a lot for working on my laptop during long afternoons. I also had a few breakfast and dinners there when I stayed in the hotel in March 2017.

Lucy In The Sky (Bar & Restaurant)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Update Dec 2016: Lucy has been renovated due to noise complaints from neighbors. It is now covered by a large glass building (as in the first photo above). It looks more upmarket than before but it is still popular with the same crowd (young, trendy Jakartans). Located near Jalan Sudirman, in Fairgrounds (ex- Bengkel ), Lucy In The Sky  is a rooftop restaurant/bar with an open-air garden terrace and a laid-back, close-to-nature atmosphere. It is probably partially owned by Tommy Winata, the ex owner of Bengkel and owner of the land of SCBD. The location of LITS is probably its best assets as it gives the feeling of escaping the city. Though in the heart of Jakarta's business district, it is surrounded with plants and flowers, which makes it relaxing, and a perfect spot to look at the skyscrapers around. Similar ambiance than SHY Rooftop but less expensive (80k for main dish) and with a better view.

Old City Nightclub and Karaoke (Jakarta)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Old City is a nightclub and karaoke located in North Jakarta, about 200 meters from the Fatahillah Museum and 500 meters from Colosseum . I had already visited it in 2009 when it was called Athena  and to be honest it hasn't changed much. It is a hardcore party spot with deafening techno music, a dark vibe and drugs aplenty. It is a bit dodgy, especially the surroundings, and you may bump into a few weird customers, but it is still safe to visit.

Wu Bar & Club (PIK - Jakarta)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Wu is a bar and nightclub located in North Jakarta. Opened recently, it is one of the few proper nightlife venues in PIK (see my review PIK Nightlife ), a trendy area among young and affluent Indochinese. Wu is actually more of a lounge where most people sit down and drink until they get so drunk they start dancing. It is better to come with a group as you are very unlikely to meet anyone if you are by yourself (unless you get invited to a table). They also serve shisha.

Melawai Hotel 5+1, 6th Floor (Blok M nightlife Jakarta) CLOSED

By The Jakarta Team →
Famous massage parlour in  Hotel Melawai I , popular with expats (I swear I never went to this place!!). It is located on its 6th floor and called Maribaya bar. I'm not sure it’s even a bar, more likely a pure bordello. Some reports that a guy spent a whole week in it, without seeing daylight. Aphrodite (Club Rasuna, near Pasar Festival, Jl Rasuna Said)

By The Jakarta Team →
Aphrodite is a bar and restaurant located not very far from the Taman Rasuna tower. As such, it is a meeting point for many of the expats living in the area, and you'll almost always find it crowded. The menu is quite long, with mainly pub food. It is pretty decent and though more expensive than average, good value. Many customers come to Aphrodite to watch sports: English Premier League, F1, Cricket, etc.. You can check the schedule here: Sports Schedule Bar Aphrodite . Personally, since I'm not a fan of anything, all these plasma screens tend to bother me. And it's even worse when no sport is on because they will put Fashion TV, making it very difficult to stay focus talking to your average-looking friends. The best point about Aphrodite is that it is a popular hangout for some Indonesian girls as well, the kind you could meet in Red Square (looking for a foreigner, but not a pro). Thursday and Saturday is ladies' night, and the best night to visit if

Chamber Whisky and Wine Bar (Pacific Place)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Chamber is a whisky/wine bar and restaurant squeezed between Potato Head and Cork&Screw in Pacific Place mall. It replaces Capocaccia . It is intimate and comfortable, with an outdoor and an indoor area. The design follows the current 1930s vintage trend that you can see in several speakeasy bars in Jakarta . It is a bit over the top for my taste. They target rich Indonesians by advertising a large collection of wines and spirits. Most items can only be ordered by bottle so avoid if you come alone.

Branché (Senopati)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
This is a really late post. I had visited Branché a few days after it had opened a couple years ago (2014) and I had never published my draft review until now. At the time of my visit, I had met with the owner, a nice, young guy who seemed surprised by the sudden success of his bar. Even though Branché is simple compared to nearby trendy venues in Senopati, it is still quite popular with Indonesians.

Kila Kila by Akasya (Indonesian Restaurant)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Kila Kila is a brand new rooftop restaurant serving fine dining Indonesian cuisine. It is located not far from Pacific Place Mall and offers a beautiful view over SCBD. It is managed by Akasya Catering, a famous company owned by Enny Latief. They provided the food for numerous VIP events such as the wedding of Edhie Baskoro, the son of SBY. If their food is good enough for the president of Indonesia, it should be good enough for you too.

Gonzo's Tex Mex Restaurant (Jakarta)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Gonzo's is a brand-new restaurant serving Mexican, Texan and Tex-Mex specialties. Its first location is in Lotte Mall Kuningan, slightly hidden behind Ranch Market. It doubles up as the first Margarita bar in Jakarta. The theme is Mexican but I don't think it was the objective of the owners to recreate Mexico in Jakarta. It is colorful and friendly, yet simple. Gonzo's caters to a mall crowd who needs a fun place for meeting/hanging out. They serve mostly popular dishes like Burritos, Fajitas, Steaks, Tacos, Quesadillas, etc, not fine dining Mexican food (see Full Menu ).

King of Kebab (Best Kebab in Jakarta)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
King of Kebab claims to be the only authentic kebab in town and they are not lying! They have a tiny location on Jalan Gunawarman, just in front of Holy Crab , where you will probably meet the owner, a Palestinian who worked in Australia and Singapore. He prepares the sauces himself and imports the beef from Australia. The kebabs are not so big but the prices are low (Rp38,000 for one). It is very convenient for an after party craving as they stay open late. You can park your car easily, order from go-jek, or eat on the spot in one of the few tables provided.

Savanna Rooftop Bar and Restaurant (Kelapa Gading)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Savanna is a brand new rooftop bar and restaurant that opened in Kelapa Gading in March 2016. It is one of the nicest venues in the area to have a drink. It seems one of the owners is Dada Hartoto Hardikusumo, an heir to the shipping company Andhika Lines. She was the Chef of Moya's Spanish Restaurant and she was also involved in other Spanish venues (Gusto in Epicentrum and Que Rico Hamburguesa in Kemang). They have regular events such as live music and DJs. Friday night is Rn'B, otherwise it's more house and EDM. They also have stand up comedians on Saturday.

Basque Spanish Restaurant and Tapas Bar (Jakarta)

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Basque is one of the most happening new restaurants/bars to open so far this year in Jakarta. It is a Spanish restaurant / Tapas bar with a great design, good food and a trendy feel. Currently, I see that more and more expats are hanging out there instead of Loewy. It is a good pick-up place for girls also. The location on the 8th floor of Noble House offers a nice view on the surrounding buildings of Mega Kuningan. The food is not so expensive, you can get a decent meal for less than Rp200,000.  It is open every day for lunch and dinner. After 11pm, they generally turn up the volume and it turns into a bar. The music is a mix of popular songs from the past 20 years. Paulaner Brauhaus German Restaurant

By Thibaud (Jakarta100bars) →
Ya Udah Bistro and Die Stube have a new competitor. Paulaner Brauhaus is the most upmarket German restaurant and Brasserie in Jakarta and it is part of the luxury Kempinski hotel. It is in a central location within the Grand Indonesia mall, just next to Social House. It is almost always busy, any day for both lunch and dinner. The crowd is a mix of expats, business travelers and Indo-Chinese customers who seem to enjoy the non-halal pork specialties. They serve a complete menu that includes any kind of sausages you can think of. One of their most popular dishes is actually a huge sausage platter that costs Rp140,000.
