CLOSED AND REPLACED BY ALIBI CLUB JAKARTA.

Owned by Andrew Santoso and Dany Setiawan (behind Cork & Screw, Loewy and X2), JackRabbit is a bar and restaurant opened in December 2010 in the Cyber 2 Building. It is targeting rich Indonesians and expatriates with a different atmosphere for lunch and for dinner. During lunch, they serve some fast food dishes (or at least easy to prepare) in a bistro-type atmosphere. At night, JackRabbit is more like a lounge, with louder music and many customers coming only for cocktails. It reminds me of a few existing places in Jakarta, in particular Bibliotheque.

I have tried this place only for lunch and I was very disappointed. I was with three friends, so we had three dishes, and here are our griefs:

- The "steak-frites" (Rp265,000 with tax):
The french fries were not well-cooked and the beef not very tender.


- The Vietnamese-style sandwich (Rp90,000 with tax):
Not bad, but in Cali Deli you can have a similar sandwich for half the price. The potato chips served as an accompanying dish were not crispy.


- The Spaghtetti Arrabiatta (Rp90,000 with tax): Overall taste not great.

Conclusion: I recommend you to avoid Jackrabbit Jakarta for lunch. They serve mediocre food at outrageous prices and I hope they will change something about it soon. So far this restaurant feels like a tourist (or expat) trap.

Concerning the design, it is elegant, but surely not worth paying such a premium on food items.

For the evenings, I know they organize parties/DJ events but I still have to check it. It is probably worth the try and I'll update this review soon with more information.   6. Review ini lumayan akurat kok. Yang komen komen negatif diatas ini pasti ada hubungan dengan restoran yang bersangkutan. Memang bener perlu kedewasaan dalam menghadapi kritik. Kalo memang dalam kenyataan makanannya belum bagus, ya coba lagi dong usaha yang lebih baik. Jangan ngelarang orang untuk menyampaikan pendapat dong dang ding dong.

  9. I've eaten here a few times and had some very good experiences. The montecristo is amazing and the mac and cheese was really delicious tho portion was not big enough. Both times I was half drunk so maybe biased, but I want to go there again for a real dinner. Their cocktails are pricey but unique and stronger I think than what you get at lowey for the same price. The service was also very good, the server actually asked how the food and drinks were, first time its happened to me in three years in Jakarta, including many visits to "fine dining" place

  10. I've been there a few times for drinks, yes this place has good cocktails (taste and varieties), but when it comes to food, I'd rather go to someplace else. The Salmon I ordered was rare and cold inside, even though I ordered medium well. My girlfriend ordered a medium steak, but they overcooked it. I don't mind paying expensive food as long they taste good, and this was not it. Hopefully their food is getting better, I haven't go there again ever since.

  12. Gw sekali kesana ama bos gw. Kami ceritanya lagi hunting t4 makan yg oke yg buat menjamu tamu perusahaan yg bakal datang dari luar. Akhirnya nyobain JackRabbit yg kebetulan belum pernah kami cobain. Bos gw pesen Lamb Fetuccine, gw pesen US Meyer Tenderloin, dan kami sama2 kecewa. kami berharap dengan harga yang wah bisa dapet cita rasa yg wah pula. Akhirnya tami kami ga jadi kami bawa kesitu.

  16. Komen saya yg pertama : untuk yg komen2 diatas ga perlu tersinggung dgn adanya kritik tsb. Gmn mau sukses koq dpt kritik bgtu aja tersinggung smpe2 hr nilai org sok tau. Dimana2 customer raja, mereka bayar & punya hak buat kasih komentar/kritik, dan mereka pun pantas utk mengkritik krn sdh membayar mahal. Klo pun anda bisa menilai kritik org dgn sok tau lah,berlebihan lah skrg pertanyaannya apa anda bisa membuat makanan yg lebih baik dr sebelumnya??? Dan apa anda ga akan mengkritik klo anda di posisi customer tsb???

    kedua: untuk chef ngetop tlg trm masukan ini sbg acuan utk lebih sukses lg. jgn cuma berlaga di tv seakan2 masakannya sempurna. INGAT!! Anda juga seperti itu sblm jd chef top,msh ada chef yg lebih top lagi di Indonesia.     i think everyone have the right to speak up their own mind right? and most of all, we can not make the generalization standard for people's taste.
    I'm sure every person have their own taste's standard, which is the good one and which is not.
    But the most important for restaurant bussiness to be suvived, they should have the majority compliment of the good taste of their food from the society :)
    And for the chef, may be you need to modify the food or customized them into Indonesian taste :) or maybe if you were really authentically western cuisine, well a lot of Indonesians get wrong by steping into your restaurant and hoping to have of their own taste in your authenthic Wester cuisine , hehehhehe . I don't know, sice i haven't have a chance to taste it myself.
    But Guys, let's calm down and keep moving forward to a better one :) ok.

  20. Amit amit... fries not well cooked artinya gak enak goblok, ie. soggy, not crispy, cold... whatever! susah susah banget sih, malah Bhs Inggris-nya dikritik. Lihat tuh foto dari Shelby's Food Corner: Caviar scrambled eggs... jamurnya sun-dried bukan?! hahahaha! Sosisnya juga yah? Lihat deh Steak & Eggs-nya... telurnya.. belajar tuh sama NasGor gerobak!   23. Just went there last night and it sucks big time mm had a blt burger and OMG ihad more fun in blenger with 1000 percents cheaper price .. No matter if its for foreigner or local, a good food will taste like a delicious sensation in your mouth but jack rabbits is for me, doesn't qualify to the standars sorry just my 2 cents

  24. Beware of that place... We went there the past weekend and the staff at the bar overcharged with different prices for rounds of same drinks and put money in their own pocket (seen physically!). Vodka RedBull @ 250k ? Don't think so...

  30. This place is a fake! Very rude and snobbish attitude from a badly trained hostess who couldn't even speak a proper English (Ms Marina you have nothing to do in this industry!). Cold food delivered, duck not properly cooked (duck should be served Pink, Chef you should also go back to school instead of lecturing people). I will definitely avoid this place for the next. Besides, I don't want your free desert nor discount! Start to work and behave as a professional or change industry! Don't act like you are one but at then end you can't keep your promises.

  32. I just went to this place last week and was very disappointed. I ordered lamb shank and it tasted awful. My iced tea also had 'weird' taste. Tables were dirty. Restaurant was empty at lunch time and now I know the reason why.

  33. I think everyone has the right to express what they have in mind about anything.

    As the restaurant owner, I believe they appreciate a constructive criticism and valued everyone opinions.

    I had been to Jackrabbit many times before, and yes, the food was not to my liking but I always give second chance, I tried their new menu creations by their new chef and I must say it was delicious. My suggestions is give it a try and review it here again. Price wise, I found their prices has been adjusted and of course it is not going to be as cheap as eating out in a street food stall or Indonesian restaurant.

    I do love their cocktails though, I found their shot portions is quite large 50ml, compared to other establishments, Jackrabbit serves larger amount than others. So, me and my pals are quite happy to get buzz faster by ordering their shots. Hahahahaha...

  40. beeen there two times.. first time for sunday brunch (still open at that time) try the quarter lemon chicken that one taste good, wifey order some pasta (forgot the name) so so taste.. second time i bring colleague from abroad, order pork belly (awful), lamb rack whatever (forgot the name but my friend seems to love it) and some salad (little bit oriental flavour.. not so good).. bottom line is only several food worth noting in this place.. and food quality wise.. not worth the price

    makan aja di rumah makan padang, murah, enak, kenyang.
    Bagaimanapun juga mulut lokal ga bisa cocok sama masakan luar, ga peduli se tajir apa lu.
    Lu makan di restoran kan karena lu punya duit dan gaya hidup. coba kalo lu miskin trus makan di warteg, apa itu warteg mau lu kritik gara-gara mendoannya habis ?. kalo lu brani, nggak usah ngritik lewat media, ngomong langsung sama pemilik restoranya. Brani Lu Semua Hah ?

  42. I believe i read an article about chef juna, he cooked for a while as japanese cook ( sushi chef). That makes a sense he couldn't do steak, fries and other dish....i bet he does sticky rice good, LOL!!!!

  43. This restaurant is ridiculous. The price is the most ridiculous thing in this restaurant. So if the reviews are mostly negative, I'm very agree with that.

    Been there few weeks ago to prove it myself, then sadly it's true. Ordered steak medium, came out well done. Asked for the new one, came out too rare, even stone cold in the center. Asked the third time, came out almost well done, I think if they left in the oven for 1 minute more, it'll be well done. It's like they don't know what they're doing with the meat temperature.

    The fries not even crispy. Really soggy like using a non-fresh ingredients. Hey, with that price, I can serve steaks and fries to 4 people.

    Panna cotta, there's a review said it was salty, well lucky him still got some flavor in it, mine was plain, not even sweet. Really really disappointing.

    The only thing i can enjoy is the drink, cause I'm quite thirsty, but that's it. Oh other thing, service is the biggest issue here, the waiters, I'm not sure if they're shy or what, but they barely speak a word, not even a thank you.

    I think better you spend your money on other restaurant, or buy a cook book and ingredients and cook them yourself, because eating here is such a waste of money.

    The saddest thing about this restaurant, the chef is a "Chef Master" at the Indonesia Masterchef TV Show. I've watched him judged. Well if he ever win a Michelin star, then go ahead do everything you like, or curse someone like the other world renowned chef. But if this guy doesn't know what he's doing for his restaurant, please take him out of the show.

    I look review for jack rabbit because somewhat I had lot's of experience with overpriced-moderate taste food & service restaurant. (SoHo, etc).

  45. I worked there for a while and knew too well about how untrained were the staffs, how shaky the management was, too many shady things happened inside. Before famous as MCI judge, Juna was an asshole to the bone, he cursed and acting snotty all the way so how could we expect those staffs were happily working. This place is cursed from the very beginning - the owners should change business or move it to another place.

  46. You got to like your work. You have got to like what you are doing, you have got to be doing something worthwhile so you can like it.. because it is worthwhile, that it makes a difference.
    Friends somewhat intend to the Owners, we enjoy the establishment but overcharge and price disrepancy over same drink on different tabs is embarrassing.Overcooked food mediocre.
    But we appreciated the fact's it's nice environments for us Expats and maybe' Local.

My old chef ( dont wanna name him)always said" if you passionate and love what you do you don't ever feel like you work" and its always a fun place to work in my kitchen...my 2 cents from a cook in hardcore foodie land!

  52. Kalo gw sih pernah makan d sana...gw bilang biasa...tapi temen gw yg asli dari texas bilangnya enak...artinya lidah kita sm lidah orang luar belum tentu sama.
    Terus waktu d japan gw nyobain sushi...gw bilang g enak soalnya amis2 ikan mentah...tp orang jepan bisa bilang enak.
    Gw rasa beda selera aja orang indo sm luar.

  57. Semua org pd bandingin harga ma rasanya yg gak sesuai... 250ribu... kalo diJepang itu masih blom kelas atas... masih standard2... Sorry y... gua tinggal di Jepang dan bayaran segitu masih murah buat gua dan masih bisa terima kalo taste nya kurang pas...
    Jangan sok berduit deh klo harga gitu masih mahal... asal tau aja... yg elit disini ada restoran yg cuman strawberry aja beberapa potong dah 6jt kalo rupiahkan... ada yg menu nya sepiring kecil gak tau apaan dah 10ribu yen harga rata2... kalo rupiahin sekitar 1.2jt... dan maaf2 aja ya... nora banget kalo memang org beduit msh komplain kemahalan dgn serve yg gua liat masih standard... Disini aja harga ampe sejuta rupiah blom tentu tamunya bilang enak semuanya... Jadi enak ato mahal itu relativ tiap2 org ma lidah tiap2 org jg berbedap.
    Tuh org2 jawa disini makan masakan jepang harian org jepang pd bilang kagak enak... padahal bagi org jepang itu enak... ada yg blg harganya mahal... pdhal bagi org Jepang itu murah...
    Intinya klo loe lidah kampung biasa makan yg keluaran biasa2 aja ya silahkan cari yg sesuai lidah. Krn mngkin resto ini pasarannya bukan org2 yg belagu kaya byk duit... itu aja gua bilang. Kalo loe pada bilang sejuta per serve itu mahal amat mending cari resto yg harga 200ribuan tapi makan sepuasnya... bykkan disana... disini juga byk... 200ribuan makan sepuasnya...
